ग्लोबल बर्डन ऑफ डीजीस ने जारी की 2019 की वैश्विक रिपोर्ट
पिछले वर्षों की तुलना में भारत में 2019 में प्रति व्यक्ति प्रदूषण का दबाव 6.5 माइक्रो ग्राम बढ़ा
रिपोर्ट का दावा, दुनिया भर में वायु प्रदूषण जनित बीमारियों के कारण 2019 में हुईं कूल 67 लाख मौतें
वायु प्रदूषण के आंकड़ों और तथ्यों के साथ ग्लोबल बर्डन ऑफ डीजीस के वैश्विक रिपोर्ट आज दुनिया भर में एक साथ जारी की गयी. वर्ष 2019 के अध्ययन के आधार पर जारी की गयी इस रिपोर्ट में दुनिया भर के 116 देशों में लगे 10 हज़ार 4 सौ 8 वायु प्रदूषण मापन इकाईयों से प्राप्त आंकड़ों के आधार पर इस रिपोर्ट का संकलन और प्रकाशन किया गया है. इस रिपोर्ट के आधार पर भारत विश्व में प्रदूषित देशों के पायदान में पहले नंबर पर पाया गया, जहां देश की सम्पूर्ण आबादी वायु प्रदूषण के चपेट में जीवन जीने को बाध्य है.
ज्ञात हो कि जीबीडी की यह वार्षिक वैश्विक रिपोर्ट हेल्थ इफेक्ट इंस्टिट्यूट और इंस्टिट्यूट फॉर हेल्थ मेट्रिक्स एंड इवलुएशन द्वारा हर वर्ष साझे रूप से जारी की जाती है. सौ से अधिक देशों में वर्ष भर मिले वायु गुणवत्ता के आंकड़ों के आधार पर जारी होने वाली यह रिपोर्ट तथ्यात्मक और भरोसेमंद मानी जाती है.
इस रिपोर्ट में दिए गए तथ्यों के बारे में विस्तार से बताते हुए क्लाइमेट एजेंडा की निदेशक एकता शेखर ने बताया “भारत में पिछले एक दशक में वायु प्रदूषण का स्तर निरंतर बढ़ता जा रहा है, जीबीडी की यह ताजा तरीन रिपोर्ट भी बताती है कि देश में वायु प्रदूषण का प्रति व्यक्ति औसत 6.5 माइक्रोग्राम बढ़ा है, और विश्व के 116 देशों की तुलना में सबसे ज्यादा बढ कर ८३ माइक्रोग्राम प्रति व्यक्ति तक पहुँच चुका है, जिसे भारत सरकार के मानकों के अनुसार अधिकतम 60 माइक्रोग्राम तक होना चाहिये था. यह आंकड़े बताते है कि भारत की सौ प्रतिशत आबादी भारत सरकार के मानकों के आधार पर भी, और विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के मानकों के आधार पर भी, प्रदूषत हवा में सांस लेने के मजबूर हो चुकी है. इस रिपोर्ट में यह बताया गया है कि अफ्रीका और एशिया महादेश के राष्ट्रों में वायु प्रदूषण का सबसे ज्यादा संकट है, जिसमे भारत, नेपाल, नाइजर, क़तर, नाइजीरिया, इजिप्ट शीर्ष 6 प्रदूषित देश हैं, जबकि बांग्लादेश और पाकिस्तान को क्रमशः नौवां और दसवां स्थान मिला है.”
वायु प्रदूषण जनित बीमारियों और उनसे होने वाली मौतों के आंकड़ों के बारे में रिपोर्ट के हवाले से एकता शेखर ने बताया “अफ्रीका और एशिया के देशों में खराब हवा के कारण वर्ष 2019 में 5 लाख से अधिक नवजात बच्चों की मौत अपने जन्म से एक माह के भीतर हो गयी. एक माह की उम्र पूरा करने से पहले ही वायु प्रदूषण जनित बीमारियों से वर्ष 2019 में अकेले भारत में ही एक लाख से अधिक बच्चों की मौत हुई. पुरी दुनिया में इन बीमारियों से कूल 67 लाख मौते हुईं, जिन्हें वायु प्रदूषण का स्तर कम कर के बचाया जा सकता था. रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, भारत में असमय / अकाल मौतों का सबसे बड़ा कारण अब वायु प्रदूषण जनित बीमारियाँ ही हैं. रिपोर्ट यह भी बताती है कि वायु प्रदूषण से पहले से ही कमजोर हो चुके भारतीय जनता के फेफड़े पर कोविड 19 का गहरा असर पड़ने की आशंका है.”
2019 Global Report on Air Pollution Released By Global Burden of Disease (GBD)
The Global Burden of Disease has today, launched its much awaited report on status of air pollution and its impacts of public health across the world. The report is based on data collected from 10 thousand 4 hundred and 8 devices installed across 116 countries in 2019. The report claims India to be the top most polluted country in the world where 100 percent of its population is forced to live under toxic air.
It should be noted that GBD report is launched every year jointly by the Health Effect institute and Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. The report is considered authentic and credible as the data and facts are collected from over 100 countries round the year.
Briefing about the report, Director of Climate Agenda Mrs Ekta Shekhar said, “the level of air pollution is rising with every passing year, this GBD report claims that the average annual population weighted PM2.5 concentration in India increased by 6.5 microgram in 2019. The level of average annual toxicity in India’s air has reached to 83 microgram per cubic meter, which is way above the standards set by the government of India as well as the World Health organization. This is highest among all 116 countries across the world, which makes India a country with the most polluted air. The report also claims that Africa and Asia are the top polluted continents. India, Nepal, Niger, Katar, Nigeria, Egypt are the top six polluted countries whereas Bangladesh and Pakistan are found to be placed on 9th and 10th rank, respectively.”
In terms of the impact on public health, Mrs Ekta Shekhar added “The report says that the world saw its more than 5b Lakh infants dying within one month of their birth, due to bad air. Among them, India lost its more than one Lakh infants within one month of their birth due to air pollution borne diseases. The report also claims that almost 67 Lakh people died in the world in 2019 out of air pollution boprne diseases. Such diseases have become the topmost reason of death in India during the last year, the report categorically claims. The GBD report also finds that Covid 10 may have fatal impact on Indian Lungs, as they are already weaker due to high exposure of air pollution.”
