HAPPINESS AFTER PAIN

“BHANDARI IS PAST PERFECT IN UNI”

New Delhi /Mumbai , October 12, 2010 : Please find below a true copy of a Tele Printer Service (TPS) received at all the UNI centres in the country on October 12, 2010 at around 1130 hrs from the Head Office in New Delhi. The TPS confirms officially , what we had been telling for last about one month , that Shree Bhandari is now ‘OUT ‘ from UNI after ‘ruling ‘ it for about two years.

It was a rumour that Shree Bhandari has air flown to US. In fact he left New Delhi on Monday midnight bag and baggage , after ‘handing over ‘ accounts  to others , for Bhopal by train and is now cooling his heels there. This TPS was sent from the Head Office in his absence.  Despite our pain and agony over inordinate delay in disbursal of salary even in this festive season ,harassment of many of our colleagues by Shree Bhandari by their mala fide suspension , transfer and other ‘punishment ‘ measures ,its certainly jubilation time for all of us , at least today,  that is TUESDAY . We will surely fight against all these cases of victimisation and hope to get justice soon. We all should chant MANAGAL , MANGAL…..

Meanwhile , the Federation and Union functionaries at all the UNI centres , including Delhi are requested to arrange SWEETS ( preferably LADOOS) to be shared by all of our colleagues in this happy moment and the emerged  irrefutable fact that BHANDARI IS PAST PERFECT.

UNIEF COMMUNICATION TEAM

भंडारी का यूएनआई कर्मियों को लिखा पत्र

Dear colleagues,

To an outsider, the United News of India may be only a news agency and a mere corporate entity but to me-and I am certain to each and everyone of you-it is not only a second home but a name that associates directly with our pride, self-esteem and very existence.

It is therefore with a heavy heart that I wish to avail this opportunity to share with you the fact that I have relinquished command as your Chief Editor and General Manager.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to all employees, down to the person standing on the lowest rung, for the wholehearted cooperation and sheer affection you have showered on me during my long innings in this reputed organisation. It is an extreme emotional moment for me to leave the portals of this renowned agency that I have served for a period exceeding four decades.

The question that must be assailing your collective intellect is why a man should bow out of such an august office. Friends, certain unavoidable domestic compulsions are forcing my hand else I would have battled alongside you until the strength granted to me by the Almighty remained in me.

I pass on the noble mantle to you to fulfill unaccomplished tasks and take the Company to its rightful place, which is at the apex of the world’s Fourth Estate. I urge you to continuously display the highest ideals of journalism in your output and extend full support to seniors.

In the days to come, I will be always available to you for guidance at professional and personal levels through informal interaction either face-to-face or over telephone and the Internet.

I wish you all the very best.  Long live UNI!

Best wishes

(A.K. Bhandari)

I am an employee of UNI since past many years. I have seen many ups and downs of the organisation. It is really very sad for the organisation that Mr Bhadari has ultimately left. And what shameful could be that some of the employees are asking to distribute sweets. In fact in his tenure only the revival plans of UNI and varta started and gained momentum. And now it is for sure that the plans would go offtrack.
I don’t wish but still I am sure that in his absence there would be total choas in the organization particularly in news side. The organization has not appointed anyone in his place (the position of Mr Bhandari was Chief Editor and General Manager). The new person appointed is Vice President (administration) Mr Udayan Bhattacharya, who is totally unaware of news. This he himself has admitted. Earlier also, he held the post of General Manager, Production and Marketing in Anand Bazar partika and he has nothing to do with news.
In fact his resignation has stunned many employees at headquarters and outside bureau offices. Today, the first day there was total chaos in the organization, particularly in editorial department. Many employees are thinking that the resignation of Mr Bhandari has rendered the organization headless. The departure of Mr Bhandari has rekindled the hope among many seniors to hold the senior most position despite that they does not have any major contribution in the growth of the organization. Mr Neeraj Vajpayee, Joint Editor and Mr Surendra Arora, two most happy persons on Tuesday might be under illusion that they could do justice with the post but the fact is that they would miserable fail to do so, if given the opportunity.
The employees opposed to Mr Bhandari don’t understand that now after the departure not only revival plans would be buried but again the ghost of takeover haunt back. Zee network, Sandhya Prakash and Anand Bazar patrika group had, on previous occasions also tried to control the organization using different tactics. And again taking the opportunity, the efforts would begin. And don’t forget that Mr Bhattacharya has already worked with Anand Bazar partika. Anand Bazar patrika might try to control UNI and Varta through him.
In totality the situation is turning from bad to worse. UNI was sinking ship and the lone person who was trying to struggle has also left. I hope the best of the organization because my future is also associated with it.

  • Dear Mr Bhandari ,
Ref your NDS 11 of today.

As a responsible Union, while discharging its prime duty of protecting the employees and their welfare, the Kerala UNI Employees Union had always stood with the organization with its creative suggestions and support for the development of the organization all these years.

However, while appreciating your initiatives for the development of the organization from its pathetic condition as soon as you took charge as the head of the organsation, we, in the Kerala UNI Employees Union strongly feel that, in the recent days you has become a mere tool in the hands of certain forces, which ultimately forced you to ignore the interest of majority of the employees and elected Unions across the country.

We , in Kerala UNI Employees Union , wish you a happy retirement life.
