यूएनआई से भंडारी जा रहे हैं!

देश की प्रतिष्ठित न्यूज एजेंसी यूएनआई राजनीति के अखाड़े में तब्दील है. यूनियन में दो गुट हैं. एक भंडारी समर्थक और एक भंडारी विरोधी. भंडारी विरोधी गुट ने जाने कबसे हवा बांध रखा है कि भंडारी जा रहे हैं, भंडारी जा रहे हैं और फाइनली भंडारी जा रहे हैं. पर भंडारी कहते हैं कि वे कहीं नहीं जा रहे हैं, कुछ लोगों की हल्ला-गुल्ला करने और अफवाह फैलाने की आदत है, और वे पिछले छह महीने से यही सब अफवाह फैला रहे हैं, सो, जान लीजिए कि भंडारी कहीं नहीं जा रहे हैं.

भंडारी से भड़ास4मीडिया की बात पिछले हफ्ते हुई थी. यूनियन वालों ने पिछले हफ्ते ही भंडारी के जाने की तारीख तय कर दी थी. पर तारीख चली गई, भंडारी नहीं गए. अब फिर यूनियन वालों ने एलान कर दिया है कि भंडारी का जाना पक्का हो गया है, इस शुक्रवार को वो पद त्याग देंगे. उनकी जगह नए जनरल मैनेजर उदयन भट्टाचार्य होंगे. यूनियन वालों ने अपने ब्लाग पर एक पोस्ट डालकर भंडारी के जाने और नए मैनेजर के आने का ऐलान कर दिया है. उसी पोस्ट को हम यहां प्रकाशित कर रहे हैं-

Bhandari going ….going ….going ….finally gone ?

Mr Udayan Bhattacharya (UB)  has been appointed new General Manager of UNI in place of Mr Arun Kumar Bhandari, who was appointed UNI Chief Editor & General Manager on October 1, 2008. Mr Bhandari has been asked to reach the UNI Head Office in Delhi from his ‘adopted ‘ hometown of Bhopal to handover the charge to UB.

The takeover of charge is likely to be completed on September 6, 2010.The new GM was earlier working for Anand Bazar Patrika Limited, which is the largest shareholder of UNI.

Our sources said that the UNI Board had authorized its Chairman Shri D.D. Purkayastha to appoint the new UNI General Manager in place of Mr Bhandari a few months back. Mr Bhandari was, however, allowed to complete job of Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) in UNI in July 2010.

We would, however, like to put on record, again, that representatives of all the registered and elected Unions of the UNI Employees had unanimously passed a resolution in an All India Convention of UNI Employees in Delhi on April 30 & May 1, 2010 seeking ouster of Mr Bhandari from the Company on various grounds.

The First resolution adopted in the convention had said, “ The Convention resolved to press for immediate ouster of the UNI Chief Editor & General Manager Arun Kumar Bhandari for not only his gross failure on all the fronts, including the much needed correct leadership and mandated sincerity and honesty for initiating effecting measures to arrest deteriorating financial conditions of this news agency and improving its news operations but also for his willful ways to mislead the employees and possibly the Board of Directors on several counts and warned to launch an all India agitation if Mr Bhanadri does not resign”.

Recent developments in UNI, including acts of violence by certain hooligan elements among the staff in UNI Delhi on July 23, 2010, willful inaction of Mr Bhandari to institute a probe and initiate due disciplinary proceedings against those responsible for the violence and named as such in a medico-legal case lodged with Parliament Street police and several complains given to the office by individual employees, including three female functionaries of the duly elected Union had vindicated our resolve to seek Mr Bhandari’s ouster from the Company.

UPDATE : 7 September 2010 As per our information UB did report to the UNI Head Office in New Delhi after Mr Bhandari reached back there from his weekly extended week-end trip to Bhopal on Monday afternoon . But he did not hand over the charge to UB.

We are yet to know exact grounds on which Mr Bhandari is refusing to step down.

UB reported the Head Office again on Tuesday , September 7, 2010 and sat there for a couple of hours. Legally speaking , he is “on” for his new appointment.

Mr Bhandari had reportedly told bhadas4media Editor Yashwant Singh over phone from Bhopal on Saturday early morning that the UNI Chairman had no authority to ‘remove’  him and make a fresh appointment in his place.

Update 8 September 2010

We are not in a position to confirm or deny the news that Mr Bhandari has finally agreed to handover the charge of the Company GM to Mr UV on Friday , 10 September 2010 before he leaves for his weekly trip for Bhopal.

What we have gathered from our reliable legal sources that there is no need to call UNI Board meeting to ensure  compliance of the Chairman’s order to appoint UB as the new GM.  There are many other measures  to accomplish that and these can be initiated anytime. We hope there will be no need for even these  ‘other measures’.

We appeal to all the UNI staff to maintain utmost restrain and help restore peace and democratic discourse in our organisation.
