\tChandigarh : Columnist of The Pioneer Anil Amar expired on Sunday at the Army Hospital here after experiencing the travails of lung cancer for three years. His column, ‘Talking Point’ published every Sunday in the Dehradun and Chandigarh editions of The Pioneer since 2009 had won him many admirers. He had recently started to write for the ‘Agenda’ supplement.<\/p>\n
\tHis mentor, Japanese philosopher Dr Daisaku Ikeda, and his adherence to Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism inspired Amar to write inspiring articles on spiritualism and human values, motivated him to live what he wrote about and to motivate others, especially the youth to transform their lives for the better. His columns published in the past three months had been written from the hospital. So committed was he to his work that once when the doctors wanted to sedate him for 48 hours due to water accumulation in his lungs, he allowed them to sedate him only for some hours because he had to write his column.<\/p>\n
