\tSudhir Chaudhary removed from primary membership of the BEA<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \tNew Delhi, 18.10.2012<\/strong><\/p>\n \tThe Executive Committee of the Broadcast Editors’ Association (BEA) met to discuss and consider the report of the three-member Fact Finding Committee, comprising Mr N. K. Singh, Mr Dibang and Mr. Rahul Kanwal, in the matter of the issues of professional ethics emanating out of the allegations leveled by Jindal Steel and Power Limited against Mr Sudhir Chaudhary, Treasurer, BEA and Editor, Zee News, on October 18, 2012.<\/p>\n \tAs the BEA is a body of editors of electronic news channels which seeks to ensure high standards in journalism, such an exercise had become imperative in the light of allegations made against one of its members.<\/p>\n \tAfter having satisfied itself that all possible and credible sources of information had been heard and investigated and all available material on the issue perused, the three-member fact-finding committee arrived at the following unanimously held conclusion “that Mr. Sudhir Chadhary is found to have acted in a manner that is unbecoming of an editor and in a fashion that is prejudicial to the interest and objects of the BEA”.<\/p>\n \tOn the basis of the rules provided in the constitution of the BEA it was decided to arrive at a conclusion by putting the issue to a secret ballot. Subsequent to the vote by members of the Executive Committee, the BEA resolved to remove Mr Sudhir Chaudhary as member of the BEA. Mr Supriya Prasad, Managing Editor, Aajtak was the returning officer for the vote.
