\tFIR against channel for ‘misreporting’ fidayeen attack<\/strong><\/p>\n

\tHolding it responsible for “inaccurate reporting” of the March 13 fidayeen attack, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a criminal intimidation case against news channel Times Now even as the media organisation denied the allegation and slapped a legal notice on the leading J&K daily Greater Kashmir.<\/p>\n

\tSenior Superintendent of Police Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari confirmed an FIR has been filed against Times Now. Mr. Bukhari told The Hindu that Parimpora police station had filed a case under Section 505 of Ranbir Penal Code [criminal intimidation] against the channel for reporting the death of “five schoolchildren” instead of “five CRPF men,” in the militant attack. However, a day after the militant attack and registration of FIR against it, the Mumbai-based Times Global Broadcasting Company, which owns Times Now, slapped a “cease and desist” notice on the local English language daily Greater Kashmir, asking its editors to immediately remove a story and a “doctored screen grab” from its website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
