New Delhi: Speed star Zaheer Khan says he wishes that rather than fearing him as a merchant of speed, batsmen loose their wickets on his deliveries. In an exclusive chat with Ms.Anurradha Prasad for her weekly show ‘Aamne-Samne’, one of the key members of Indian side to take on England after couple of weeks Zaheer Khan made it clear that currently he is only thinking and focusing on the forthcoming England trip.<\/p>\n
That would be very important series for Indian side. ‘ I have set some goals for myself and I have to conquer them before I can think of anything else,’ Zaheer Khan said,when he was asked to reveal his marriage plans. The fascinating interview with Zaheer Khan will be aired on News 24 at 10 pm on Sunday ( 10 July). Even after couple of months of historic World Cup triumph, Zaheer Khan is still soaking on those moments when he along with his comrades lifted the glittering World Cup in Mumbai. ‘ It was a life time experience for all of us . We had really invested a lot in order to win the world cup. Naturally, we were so happy and nation was also in a very joyous mood,’ Zaheer Khan,recalls those moments, ‘ Adding,\u00a0 -I too could not stop my tears of joy when I met my parents after that stunning victory.’ <\/p>\n
‘ What difference have you observed between Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni ? ‘ Lavish in his praise for both the pros,Zaheer,who is also called as Zak, said ‘ Sourav has done yeoman service in encouraging youngsters to play well. He had given great platform to Dhoni to take Indian side to another level and Dhoni did exactly that. While Sourav was very aggressive skipper, Dhoni is equally aggressive captain. But,he does not show his feelings. His strength lies in taking calculated risks.’<\/p>\n
‘ Will Indian side miss Gary Kirsten as a coach ?’ ‘It goes without saying that Gary was a very fine coach. He used to give space to all of us. But,he had promised to his family that he would be back after three years stint in India. Like us, he used to give lot of importance to family values,’ he said. <\/p>\n
‘Was it tough to create a niche for yourself in Mumbai Cricket as you hailed from a small Srirampur ? ‘ Tracing his journey of hardships to success, Zak said that he shifted his base to Mumbai in the year 1996 to make a dent in Cricket. After he did not see enough scope to represent Mumbai side, he decided to shift to Baroda on the advise of Dennis Lillee. ‘And shifting to Baroda changed my life. In the very first session of my playing for Baroda, I made my mark and was selected for the Indian side.’<\/p>\n
‘ Is the glamour of IPL not distracting Cricketers ?’ ‘ Not at all. There may be a few players who could be distracted by the glamour part of IPL,but it does not affect most of the players,’ Zaheer made it clear,who is not thinking of his second career after retirement from Cricket.
