IPS officer Amitabh Thakur today filed a Writ petition in Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court with prayer to direct the Central government not to extend the date for submission of property returns of central government employees, including IAS and IPS officers any further and to ensure that all these public servants submit their property return within time.<\/p>\n
The petition says that as per section 44 of the Lokpal and Lokayukta Act 2013, every public servant is supposed to provide the property returns of himself along with his spouse and family members by 31st July every year. As per section 44(6) of the Act, these property returns are o be displayed on the concerned departmental websites.<\/p>\n
Instead of this legal provision, the Central government has been extending the last date of submission again and again so that now last date for 2013-14 has been extended 6 times and that for 2014-15 has been extended 3 times. Recently it was extended once again on 12 April 2016.<\/p>\n
Amitabh has called this highly improper and against the spirit of the Lokpal Act and has prayed the High Court to direct the Central government to comply with the provisions of Lokpal Act at the earliest.<\/p>\n
