While Badal jr, who is both party chief as well as Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, is pretty confident of once again winning the assembly elections, is ready to introspect their short comings if his party failed to get the mandate to rule the state. \u2018 Are you open to introspection with all the honesty if people of Punjab will not repose their faith on Akali Dal?\u2019 \u201c As I am travelling the length and breadth of my state, I can feel the mood of the people. They are with us. We will win around 65 seats and our alliance partner BJP should also repeat their previous performance. However, the will of people of Punjab will prevail. And we will discuss\u00a0 all the possible pros and cons if we lost in elections,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u2018Are you facing Anti-incumbency wave this time?\u2018 Confident personified Sukhbir Badal said, \u201c We have removed the very term of anti-incumbency from the dictionary of Punjab. We are fighting this election on the work which we did during the last five years. Moreover, the very term of anti-incumbency has taken a beating in states like Gujarat,Haryana,Madhya Pradesh and many others.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2018Your detractors say that Akali Dal\u00a0 now should be named as Badal Dal as there are so many Badals in the party holding key positions\u2026?\u2019 Looking little defensive, Badal jr. said if that was the case then Congress should also change their name as there are so many Gandhis in Congress. And like so many other leaders, he also argued that family name can give you people\u2019s mandate only once. There after, one can get support on the basis of your work.<\/p>\n
\u2018Will you become Chief Minister after the elections?\u2019 \u201c No way. I am happy as president of the Akali Dal as well as Deputy Chief Minister of my state. Sardar Prakash Badal will continue to be the Chief Minister of Punjab. We have very deadly combination with experience and young at the helm of state.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reacting to a question related to corruption charges leveled against Badal clan by Amrinder Singh, Sukhbir Badal said, \u201c It is high time that the nation should know that we are absolved by the court in corruption related cases. On the hand, Amrinder Singh is still facing and fighting corruption charges. He is out and out feudal . Without helicopter, he does not travel at all. He has no contact with people of Punjab.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2018Will your estranged cousin Manpreet emerge as third force post elections?\u2019\u00a0 Almost disdainfully Sukhbir Badal said, \u201c Manpreet has zero presence in Punjab.
