भोपाल : माखनलाल चतुर्वेदी राष्ट्रीय पत्रकारिता एवं संचार विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा वर्ष 2012-13 के लिए दिये जाने वाले प्रतिष्ठित गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी सम्मान की घोषणा कर दी गई है. वर्ष 2012 के लिए यह सम्मान देश के जाने-माने पत्रकार मदन मोहन जोशी को एवं वर्ष 2013 के लिए यह पुरस्कार प्रख्यात पत्रकार श्यामलाल यादव को प्रदान किया जायेगा। सम्मान समारोह का आयोजन 7 अप्रैल 2015 को भोपाल में किया जाएगा।
भारतीय भाषायी पत्रकारिता के माध्यम से सृजनात्मक योगदान के लिये माखनलाल चतुर्वेदी राष्ट्रीय पत्रकारिता एवं संचार विश्वविद्यालय में गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी सम्मान की स्थापना की गई है। यह सम्मान किसी एक कृति या उपलब्धि के लिए न होकर सुदीर्घ साधना एवं उपलब्धि के लिये देय है। विगत वर्षों में इस सम्मान से आलोक मेहता, राजेंद्र शर्मा, डा. नंदकिशोर त्रिखा, रामबहादुर राय, रमेश नैयर को सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। सम्मान के अंतर्गत दो लाख रूपए प्रदान किए जाते हैं।
वर्ष 2012 के लिए गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी सम्मान से सम्मानित श्री मदनमोहन जोशी नवभारत, क्रोनिकल तथा नईदुनिया जैसे प्रतिष्ठत समाचारपत्रों से जुड़े रहे हैं। नईदुनिया में एक संवाददाता के रूप से कार्य प्रारम्भ कर वे उसी संस्थान में सम्पादक रहे हैं। उन्होंने हिन्दी और अंग्रेजी के दो साप्ताहिक स्तम्भों के 20 वर्षों तक लेखन का कीर्तिमान बनाया। देश की प्रतिष्ठित पत्र-पत्रिकाओं में उनके 5000 से अधिक आलेख, रिर्पोताज प्रकाशित हुए। उन्होंने एक दर्जन से अधिक पुस्तकें लिखीं। पुस्तकों के अतिरिक्त उनके निबन्ध संग्रह एवं कविता संग्रह भी प्रकाशित हुए। वे भोपाल स्थित जवाहरलाल नेहरू कैंसर अस्पताल एवं अनुसंधान केन्द्र के संस्थापक भी रहे हैं। उन्हें अनेक पुरस्कारों एवं सम्मानों से विभूषित किया जा चुका है।
वर्ष 2013 के लिए सम्मानित श्री श्यामलाल यादव हिन्दी और अंग्रेजी भाषाओं में पत्रकारिता करते हुए सतत लेखन कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने माखनलाल चतुर्वेदी विश्वविद्यालय से 1992-93 में पत्रकारिता की पढ़ाई पूर्ण की। वे जनसत्ता, अमर उजाला, इंडिया टुडे, इंडियन एक्सप्रेस जैसे समाचारपत्रों में वरिष्ठ पदों पर कार्यरत रहे हैं। उन्हें रूरल रिपोर्टिंग के लिए प्रतिष्ठित स्टेट्समेन अवॉर्ड से सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। खोजी रिपोर्टिंग के लिए उन्हें ‘रामनाथ गोयनका, अवॉर्ड मिला है। पी.सी.आर.एफ. एवं एन.डी.टी.वी. द्वारा दिए जाने वाले राष्ट्रीय आर.टी.आई. पुरस्कार से भी उन्हें सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। वर्ष 2010 में उन्हें लारेन्जो नेताली अंतरराष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार भी प्राप्त हुआ है।

Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award to be conferred upon Madan Mohan Joshi and Shyamlal Yadav
Bhopal : Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication has announced the prestigious Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Awards for the year 2012 and 2013. For the year 2012, the award will be conferred upon the noted journalist of the country, Shri Madan Mohan Joshi while for the year 2013 the award will be conferred upon renowned journalist Shri Shyamlal Yadav. The award ceremony would be organized on April 7, 2015 in Bhopal.
It may be noted that the prestigious Ganesh Sankhar Vidyarthi Awards were constituted by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication for creative contribution in establishment and promotion of values, searching for truth, working for people, social uplift and independent conscience through language journalism. This award is given away not for one story or achievement but for sustained dedication and achievement. The previous recipients of the award are – Alok Mehta, Rajendra Sharma, Dr. Nandkishore Trikha, Rambahadur Rai and Ramesh Nayyar. The award covers an amount of Rs 2,00,000 cash and a citation.
Shri Madanmohan Joshi who is conferred with Ganesh Shankar Award for the year 2012 has been associated with prestigious newspapers like Navbharat, Chronicle and Naidunia. He started his career as a correspondent with Naidunia and went on to become editor of the same organization. He credited with writing weekly columns in both Hindi and English languages for 20 continuous years. More than 5000 articles and reportages of Joshi have been published in well-known newspapers and magazines of the country. He has also authored 12 books. Besides, his essays compilations and poetries have also been published. He has also been the founder of Bhopal-based Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital and Research Center. He has also been conferred with various others awards and recognitions.
Shri Shyamlal Yadav who has been conferred with the award for the year 2013 has done journalism in both Hindi and English language and has been continuously engaged with writing works. He studied from Makhanlal Chaturvedi University in 1992-93. He then worked with Jansatta, Amar Ujala, India Today and Indian Express served at senior positions. At present he is working as Senior Editor with prestigious English daily Indian Express. He has been conferred with prestigious ‘Statesman’ Award for rural reporting. He is also a recipient of Ramnath Goenka Award for investigative journalism. He has also been felicitated with National RTI Awards by PCRF and NDTV. In 2010 he was also conferred with Lorenzo Natali International Award for journalism.
