New Delhi: Dinesh Trivedi, who was fired as Rail Minister by her party leader, Mamata Bannerji, sees even a possibility when both Congress and TMC merge before the next general elections in 2014. “ Yes, you can’t rule out the possibility of Congress-TMC merger before 2014 as now political compulsions decide the future course of parties,” says urbane Dinesh Trivedi in an interview with Ms.Anurradha Prasad, Editor-in-Chief of News24 channel for her weekly show ‘Aamne-Samne’.
‘Will you contest next election as a Congress candidate or TMC candidate ?’ The reticent leader says, “ I have a manager who decides for me what should I do next. Well, let me tell you that my manager is my god. He takes the final call,” adding, “ There is no denying the fact that I have started my political career with Congress under the watchful eyes of Rajeev Gandhi. So I can not say that I have no relations or connections with the Congress.”
Still looking relaxed post loosing cabinet post, Dinesh Trivedi says that he is not a martyr and post was immaterial for him. “ I tell you that post of minister was not be all and end all. I entered the politics to serve the cause of common men. I am happy that Prime Minister said in parliament that he would miss me dearly,” he informs.
‘There is growing felling that regional satraps are behaving like dictators…?’ “ While I can not make any opinion for anybody, I am a democratic person. For me, nation comes first, then family and finally the party,” Trivedi informs.
