: MEETING AT 3.30pm, TUESDAY, JUNE 21 TO BE ADDRESSED BY EDITORS :  In a fresh initiative from the Press Club, national editors of major print and TV networks are meting the Chief Minister on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 to express their concern about the lack of any breakthrough in the investigations into the slaying of J Dey.

The editors, along with a few representatives of journalist organizations, will also demand a transfer of the investigation to the CBI. Doubts have been raised about the possible links between certain officers of the Mumbai Police and the underworld, and it is doubtful that the local police can do a neutral and efficient investigation that will unearth the plot to kill the senior journalist. Incidentally, the intervention petition filed by the Press Club and others will be heard by the Bombay High Court on Tuesday when these issues will be highlighted.

Among the Editors who will be meeting the CM include Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-chief of the Express Group, N.Ram, Editor of The Hindu, Arnab Goswami, Editor of Times Now, Rahul Joshi, Executive Editor of The Economic Times, Girish Kuber, Editor of Loksatta, Aditya Sinha, Editor of DNA and Sachin Kalbag, Editor of Mid-day.

Following the meeting with the CM, there will be a public meeting of journalists at the Press Club at 3.30 PM on Tuesday, June 21.The editors will discuss the issues raised with the Maharashtra government and steps necessary to ensure safety for media professionals.

Please attend and participate in the meeting.
