Children’s Literature Festival at Jaipur

In order to promote books and reading habit among school children,  National Centre for Children’s Literature, a wing of National Book Trust, India is holding a 3-day Children’s Literature Festival during the ongoing Jaipur Book Fair at SMS Investment Ground from 10-12 October.

In order to promote books and reading habit among school children,  National Centre for Children’s Literature, a wing of National Book Trust, India is holding a 3-day Children’s Literature Festival during the ongoing Jaipur Book Fair at SMS Investment Ground from 10-12 October.

 

Besides a range of book-related activities for the children, a panel discussion on “Do today’s Children like to read folktales and fairytales?” for all those interested in making and dissemination of children’s literature would also be held on 11th October evening.

The festival begins at 10 am on 10 October with  Smt Kshama Sharma, Executive Editor of leading children’s monthly magazine ‘ Nandan’ and Shri Prempal Sharma, noted litterateur telling stories and interacting with children. The same evening children will recite poems in the presence of Shri Prempal Sharma  who will also discuss the art of poetry recitation with children.  A session on enacting a story has been scheduled on 11 October which  would be conducted by noted children’s author and dramatist Smt Sangeeta Sethi. On 12 October Shri Manish Kumar Chaudhary, Sub-Editor, Balhans, a popular children’s fortnightly published from Jaipur and Shri Dwijendra Kumar, Assistant Editor, Readers’ Club Bulletin, a monthly magazine for school children published by National Book Trust will jointly hold a session on how to prepare a children’s magazine. Participation in these programmes is open to all school children.

In the panel discussion on  children’s literature to be held at 4 pm on 11 October, the speakers include Shri Prempal Sharma, noted litterateur, Ms Charanjeet Dhillon, Director, Bal Bhawan, Jaipur, Ms Ruchi Singh,  Nepali and Hindi  author, Ms Kalpana Jain, editor, Bachchon Ka Desh, a children’s monthly magazine published from Jaipur and  Shri Chandidutt Shukla, feature editor, Aha! Zindagi. This session will be moderated by Shri Manas Ranjan Mahapatra, editor and head, National Centre for Children’s Literature.
