BHUBANESWAR: Police on Tuesday arrested Ranjan Das, a key Artha Tatwa Group accused, on charges of attacking a photojournalist at the former’s residence in Badagada Brit Colony here. The police action followed a complaint lodged by the injured scribe, Jitendra Mohanty.
Mohanty said he went to Das’s residence to cover CBI’s simultaneous raids at several places in Bhubaneswar in connection with a chit fund fraud, involving Swastik India. Das was former promoter-cum-president of Swastik India.
“I had no idea whether or not the CBI personnel were present at Das’s house. Since Das was associated with the company, I had gone to click photographs of his house. The moment I reached his house, his goons dragged me inside and assaulted me. Das pulled out a revolver and threatened to kill me,” Mohanty told the media.
