Ajit Rai : Congratulations Asghar Wajahat ji for prestegeous Sangeet Natak Academy Awards. In sept 2009 we celebrated 20 yrs of his play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhyan worldwide – Delhi Mumbai Karanchi Lahore London Washington Sydney Budapest etc. As conveynor I edited a book on the play in Hindi & English dedicated to Habib Tanveer who staged 1st on 26 sept 1990 in Sri Ram Centre Delhi- published by Vani Prakashan.
Only 11 Hindi playwriters got this award in last 63 yrs including Mohan Rakesh 1966, Dharmveer Bharti 1988, Bhishm Sahni 2001, Surendra Verma 1992, Swadesh Deepak 2004, Upendra Nath ‘Ashk,1965, Mudrarakshas 2008 etc. His plays crossed the borders & becomes modern classics in narrative style, ideas & impact His recent play Gandhi @ the Rate of Godase staged by Tom Altor is generating new debates about Indian democracy today, Salute to Asghar Bhai.
