New Delhi: In a new softer and milder avtaar, the once fiery BJP leader Uma Bharti candidly admits that when she was out of the party only then she realized that there is no place for her outside the fold of BJP if she wants to follow her principals. In a face to face with Ms Anurradha Prasad for her weekly show ‘Aamne-Samne’, Uma Bharti said that outside BJP,she has existence. ‘The last assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh was an eye-opener for me. I realized in a hard way that without BJP I would not able to fight for Ram and Roti.It was sheer arrogance on my part when i thought of life even without BJP.’ The interview with Uma Bhati would be aired on Sunday ( 26 June) on News 24.
‘You were known as a very hard nut to crack, almost obstinate. Are you a changed person after living outside BJP ? ‘ In a confessional mood, she reveals , ‘ Both Atal ji, Advani ji and Rajmata Scindia used to pamper me. When i was just 8 years old, i own a car. At a very young age, i started visiting abroad for lecture trips. All such things had an impact on my personality’, adding, ‘I was perhaps the only minister in the NDA government who was not rebuked by the PM. As and when i took up stand on any issue, Atal ji take me to his place for meals.’
‘Are you ready to take Digvijay Singh in the forthcoming battle-royal of UP ?’ ‘Of course. I will take him head-on. We will meet there. Nevertheless, we will never hit below the belt while hitting each other politically,’ adding ‘I am on mission UP. Currently, UP is my only area of concern and focus. I have to prove my worth there. The abject poverty in the back waters of UP is revolting. It is horrible. Crime and Corruption became order of the day UP,’ felt Uma Bharti. ‘ Who is you enemy number one in UP ?’ Tracing the changing politics fortunes in UP, Uma Bharti said that there there would be fight between BJP and BSP. Congress and Mulayam Singh have not even outside chance. Mulayam has made very indecent comments against Mayawati. Then she adds that there would be fight among Didi (Mayawati), Bhatija (Rahul Gandhi) and herself.
‘ While you talk about the indecent language used by Mulayam Singh, what about Nitin Gadkari’s langugage ?’ Defending her party boss, she
even said that she has yet to find any comment of Gadkari which transcends the limits of decency. ‘ I am really surprised that Congress leaders can tolerate anything even against Gandhi ji and Mrs Indira Gandhi but they react very sharply when somebody makes any comment against Mrs Sonia Gandhi.’ And replaying to a question related to her mission Clean Ganga, Uma Bharti revealed that she is meeting UPA leader Mrs.Sonia Gandhi in order to request her use her good office to declare Ganga as a national river. ‘If she does that,she would do yeoman service to this country,’ Uma Bharti concludes.
