Jaya Bachchan inaugurated the 4th Jaipur International Film Festival-2012

Jaipur : The 4th Airtel Jaipur International Film Festival was inaugurated by prominent actress Jaya Bachchan. During the hour, the special guest was Marc Baschet, producer of the Academy Award winning film ‘No Man’s Land’. During the opening of the festival, a large number of major filmmakers from countries like the United States, England, Nigeria and France were present. With the commencement of the 4th Jaipur International Film Festival, it was easy to observe a great enthusiasm among the filmmakers and cinema lovers participating from all over the globe.

Jaipur : The 4th Airtel Jaipur International Film Festival was inaugurated by prominent actress Jaya Bachchan. During the hour, the special guest was Marc Baschet, producer of the Academy Award winning film ‘No Man’s Land’. During the opening of the festival, a large number of major filmmakers from countries like the United States, England, Nigeria and France were present. With the commencement of the 4th Jaipur International Film Festival, it was easy to observe a great enthusiasm among the filmmakers and cinema lovers participating from all over the globe.

After the overwhelming performance of Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, and getting honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award Mrs. Jaya Bachchan said that it is essential for us to make the films by keeping in mind the audience and what they see, feel and believe.  Filmmaking is a format of art and culture and every one of us should be proud of it and preserve it for the future generations. She highly admired the Bangladeshi film ‘Meherjaan’ dealing with the anguish of women. She also highlighted the quality filmmaking in Lovesongs- Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’.

Hanu Roj, the director of the festival said that, “Cinema is one such art that make the inner and outer self of a person beautiful.  The participation of hundreds of filmmakers from around the world is sufficient to tell how much they trust in JIFF.  The festival is a unique platform on which the filmmakers from any part of the world can come and express their dialogues in front of others.“ He also added that the major objective of including the important monuments to the festival venues this year is that people can get close to the Rajasthani Culture and feel very good about cinema. According to him, the major dream of developing the Film City in Rajasthan will be realized by the year 2016.

The filmmakers from India and various other parts of the world are also showing a keen interest in the film bazaar- ‘The Merchant’.  There are definite plans of the organizing committee of the festival to expand the present format of ‘The Merchant’ next year.  Jaipur International Film Festival 2013 will be special in itself as the Indian Cinema will complete its 100 years. The festival will take place till 31st January and in the meantime 178 films selected from 70 countries of the world will be screened.  The Closing Red Carpet Award Ceremony of the festival will be held at The City Palace on 31st January, 2012. There are in total 27 awards to be presented in various categories of film selection.   PRESS RELEASE
