PA Sangma has always been tagged with the Ruling Hegemony and his daughter Agatha Sanga is still a central Minister in the UPA government. Sanga has never raised his powerful voice against Armed Forces Special Power Act nor he is known to protest the Exclusion and Ethnic cleaning of the tribal people in  India. he has never spoken against the Corporate Greed to displace the tribals in Cntral India or in Orrissa which has got seizable tribal Population and Naveen patnaik does everything to destroy the tribal people inOrrissa. BJP has its governemnt in Chhattishgargh which is condemned worldwide for its experiment named Salwa judum. The RSS remoted BJP has another government in  Gujarat which is headed by genocided master Narendra Modi, who has reduced the SC, ST and OBC communities as the foot soldiers of Hindutva. We have another BJP State Jharkhand which has siezable tribal Population and we know how the aborigine humanscape is deprived of Civic as well as Human rights.

Sangma has been part and parcel of the Ruling Hegemony which has chosen Pranab Mukherjee as Next President. But Sangma did never raise his voic to defend the Constitutional provisions under Fiftha and sixth Schedule. Ironically, jumpinng in the Presidential Election Arena , he has ensured Cake walk for Pranab to Raisina Hills.Meanwhile,NDA today got another jolt in the Presidential race with JD(U) becoming the second NDA ally after Shiv Sena to break ranks with BJP to support UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee. After days of hectic parleys, it’s official. BJP backs PA Sangma for the post of President. The tribal leader appeals to all parties to support him. With this move the rift within the NDA is out in the open. Continuing its attack on the Congress, the BJP blamed it for announcing Pranab Mukherjee’s candidature, without consulting the Opposition.

With the BJP on Thursday announcing support to PA Sangma pitting him against UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee, the Trinamool Congress on Thursday said its chief Mamata Banerjee was keeping a close watch and the party would take an ‘appropriate decision at the appropriate time’.

“TMC has not taken any final decision as yet. Our party supremo Mamata Banerjee is keeping a close watch on the situation. She will take an appropriate decision at the appropriate time”, party MP Kunal Ghosh told PTI here without giving a direct reply.

He was asked whether TMC would support Sangma in the Presidential race or abstain from voting since former President A P J Abdul Kalam, whom the TMC supremo wanted to contest, has already opted out. Ghosh said that the Trinamool Congress parliamentary party and the legislature party has already authorised Mamata Banerjee to take a decision on the Presidential poll issue on behalf of the party. Soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party decided to support P.A. Sangma for the presidency, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday described the former Speaker as a candidate of communal forces.

“It is unfortunate that Sangma has become a candidate of the communal forces… the UPA nominee would have a decisive triumph in the presidential poll,” NCP general secretary D.P. Tripathi told reporters.

Observing that the BJP backed Sangma “so there is a contest just for the sake of contest”, Tripathi said the decision showed the “bankruptcy of the saffron party, which had to import its presidential candidate from the UPA”.

The BJP has announced support to Sangma, who already has the backing of AIADMK chief J Jayalalithha and Biju Janata Dal chief Naveen Patnaik. Sangma, who is a founder member of the NCP, resigned from the party Wednesday after failing to elicit support for his candidature. The NCP is meeting here Thursday evening to discuss the fallout of the political developments Sangma’s daughter, Agatha Sangma, who is a junior minister in the United Progressive Alliance government, has also been invited to the party meet.

“She has not said anything about the presidential poll and has not given any resignation. We have invited her for the meeting,” Tripathi told reporters.

The Presidential poll on Thursday split NDA further with BJP announcing support for PA Sangma and JD(U) backing UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee, becoming the second ally after Shiv Sena to break ranks from the Opposition coalition. Leaders of BJP and JD(U) held separate press conferences within an hour of each other to announce support for rival candidates for the poll to be held on July 19, in which Mukherjee has a clear edge with 5.88 lakh out of nearly 11 lakh votes in his favour.

Sangma is expected to garner only 3.10 lakh votes. BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley said the party decided to support Sangma, whose candidature has been proposed by AIADMK and BJD, after trying unsuccessfully to evolve a consensus within NDA on it. They noted that JD(U) and Shiv Sena had not agreed on supporting Sangma and instead backed Mukherjee but insisted that it will have no impact on the “mature” coalition of NDA.

“We regret we could not persuade our allies…We hope they will review their position,” Jaitley said.

Swaraj said BJP would try to bring Trinamool, which broke ranks from UPA, also on board and talks were on for it. Both Swaraj and Jaitley argued that it was BJP’s duty, being the main Opposition, not to allow a “walkover” to UPA which did not “consult” it before announcing the candidature of Mukherjee. Jaitley said the BJP could not support a government which is using “various manoeuvres”, including investigative agencies, to rope in parties to stay in power. Describing Sangma as “the country’s tall leader” besides North East’s “tallest leader”, Swaraj appealed to Shiv Sena and JD(U) to give up their opposition to his candidature. Soon after, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav announced support for Mukherjee and his party was against any contest after former President APJ Abdul Kalam refused to enter the fray.

UPA, without TMC, has vote share of 4.12 lakh. However, with the support of SP’s 66,688 votes, BSP’s 45,473, JD(U)’s 40,737, Shiv Sena’s 18,495 and JD(S)’s 6,138, Mukherjee can muster votes much beyond the required number of 5,49,442 votes. On the other hand, undivided NDA had 3.04 lakh votes, which came down to 2.43 after JD(U) and Shiv Sena broke ranks. AIADMK and BJD have 36,920 and 30,125 votes. In effect, Sangma can garner 3.10 lakh votes. Trinamool Congress has 45,925 votes but the party is yet to decide on whom to support. Swaraj and Jaitley regretted that BJP could not persuade its allies and have a consensus in the NDA over the issue but insisted that it would have no impact on the coalition. To press her point, she noted that Shiv Sena had earlier also voted for UPA nominee Pratibha Patil during the last Presidential poll even though NDA had opposed her candidature but it still remained part of the alliance.

Sharad Yadav took pains to emphasis that they are part of NDA but under the present circumstances, they are backing a candidate on whom a “consensus” has been arrived at. “We are not supporting a Congress candidate. Under the present circumstances, we are supporting a UPA candidate for whom there is a consensus,” he said. The JD(U) chief said there was a consensus within the NDA till former President Kalam was in the race. “However, after Kalam’s exit, there were different opinions and names.”

Welcoming BJP’s support, Sangma appealed to JD(U) and Shiv Sena to back him. He said other NDA allies like Akali Dal, JMM and other smaller parties have assured their support to him. On Trinamool Congress, he said he had talked to its chief earlier and was “very very hopeful that Mamata will be with me,” he said. NCP, which Sangma quit yesterday to contest the election, slammed him for becoming a candidate for “communal forces”. Party spokesman D P Tripathi said the development also showed the “bankruptcy” of BJP that they had to “import” a candidate from UPA. No wonder that Naveen Patnaik  as being showcased as the saviour of the Tribal world, has Joy no bound.Welcoming BJP’s decision to support PA Sangma in the Presidential poll, BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said all political parties should support the former Lok Sabha Speaker.

“I welcome the BJP’s decision of supporting Sangma. All political parties should support Sangma who is a tribal,” Patnaik, the Odisha Chief Minister, told reporters on the sideline of the annual car festival of Lord Jagannath in Puri. Sangma is a distinguished tribal leader who hails from the Northeast and belongs to the minority community, he noted. Patnaik was the first to propose Sangma’s name on May 17 for the presidential polls with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK also supporting him.

BJD’s senior vice-president Damodar Rout said “While people from different communities have occupied the President’s chair, only the tribal community has been left out. Therefore, all should ensure that Sangma wins the polls.” On the other hand,The Jharkhand unit of the BJP on Thursday appealed to all its ruling allies in the Arjun Munda-led state government to support former Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma in the presidential elections.

“We appeal to all our constituents JMM, Ajsu party and Janata Dal (U) to vote for NDA candidate,” BJP’s state unit spokesman Pradip Sinha said here. Sinha’s appeal comes in the wake of UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee calling up Ajsu party chief and Deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto yesterday to seek support for him in the presidential elections. Earlier in the day, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said her party would support P A Sangma for presidential poll.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday welcomed the support extended by the BJP for PA Sangma in the presidential election. “I welcome other parties coming forward to support Sangma,” she said in a statement, without referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party by name. Asked if she would ask West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to back Sangma, she replied, “Let us leave the decision to her.” It was Jayalalithaa and her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik who first announced their support to Sangma for the presidential poll. As BJP backed PA Sangma in the Presidential race, Congress on Thursday rejected as “childish” the Opposition party’s complaint that it was not consulted before UPA zeroed in on Pranab Mukherjee as its candidate.

Dubbing Sangma as BJP’s “borrowed” candidate, Congress also said the Opposition party was backing the former Lok Sabha Speaker only for the sake of a contest. “They are fielding a candidate only for the sake of contest. They are playing some political game. This is all useless talk that we did not take initiative,” AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi told reporters here. Having a dig at the Opposition party, he recalled that “even in 2002 when BJP had proposed A P J Abdul Kalam’s name, we did not go hunting for candidates but supported him.”

Dwivedi was reacting to BJP’s allegation that UPA held no prior consultation with it before finalising Mukherjee as its candidtate for the July 19 polls and its assertion that the Opposition party did not want to give Congress a walkover. “This is a childish complaint that they were not consulted before or after. As soon as the UPA candidate was decided, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sought their support,” he said, adding that Congress President Sonia Gandhi had also appealed to all political parties to support Mukherjee.

“Whatever the BJP has said today is a bit far from reality. They should have placed the entire picture. Congress could not have announced the candidate alone…,” he said. “What would we have discussed with them before finalising the name of our candidate,” he said. The Congress leader also said Sangma may be having many qualities but there is no comparison between him and Mukherjee. “Moreover, Sangma is not their candidate. He is the candidate of somebody else. He is a borrowed candidate for them,” Dwivedi said. He wondered why BJP leaders could not tell the Prime Minister clearly about their opposition to Mukherjee when he had sought their support.

“Why were they discussing the name of Kalam at that time…? When Kalam backed out, there were only two candidates in the fray…Why BJP did not come to a decision?” he asked. Dwivedi welcomed the support offered to Mukherjee by JD(U) and Shiv Sena, both NDA allies.
