I sometimes ask myself whether our TV news anchors are incompetent or they take sides deliberately whenever a debate takes place on Anna issue involving the Congress, the BJP and civil society representatives. Anchors at different channels appear prompt to seek answer or verify any allegation raised by the congress members or anti-Anna movement forces but apply little brain in details of nonsense allegations or queries put up.
My submission is in context of one of the Congress General Secretary’s wild and stupid questions to Team Anna to come clean on their association with RSS. This GS has a history of making statements which even surpass Mr. Amar Singh’s past rhetoric. To appease some of our fellow countryman of a particular community- who are, by the way, smart enough to judge right or wrong- he can go to any extent. Now, whatever this gentleman speaks, TV anchors run after Team Anna to clarify on the allegations made. They never bother to stop a second and look back at the merits of the question. For example, If RSS wrote a letter in support of Anna movement, does this really mean that RSS was running the show. What nonsense? Are we people of India fool or mindless to Congress? Sanjay Nirupam was supporting the Anna movement which – according to the congress- was supported by RSS. In such case, will Congress expel Mr. Nirupam? No, it won’t and it shouldn’t.
Our TV anchors are accomplished journalists or supposed to be so. They asking such stupid questions, repeatedly, frustrate viewers like me. I understood the merits of the issue (read non-issue), Why is it difficult for our TV anchors? In past, they went too much with Anna and this time around going too much against him.
