Scribe booked for inflammatory post on WhatsApp
BHOPAL : Rumours of child lifters stalking the city have led to mobs attacking suspicious-looking persons. In one such case, the Hanumanganj police, on Friday, registered a case against a scribe Syed Faizal Ali, for spreading baseless rumours through his WhatsApp account. The post did rounds in various groups and created a sensation in the city, especially the Old City area.
These rumours were spread through a WhatsApp message which read that around 40,000 children would be abducted from the state capital and other districts across the state by members of different gangs to make them Naga Baba in the coming Sinhastha in Ujjain next year. It further read that around 14,000 members of gang were active in state capital and other districts working for Naga Babas to abduct children to complete the target of converting children into Naga Babas.
SP North Arvind Saxena talking to Free Press said, “A malicious post was being forwarded on WhatsApp by accused Ali, which had the potential of triggering a communal clash. A case under sections 153A, 505B of the IPC and section 67 of Information Technology (IT) Act has been registered against him. In future National Security Act can also be slapped against him.”
“All the sections under which the person concerned was booked are non-bailable. However the accused could not be arrested by the police till the filing of report. Besides him others who forwarded the message more than once in different groups would also be made co-accused and action would be taken against them,” added SP Saxena.
