SUMMARY: There lived a washer man named Juggan, in a small township. He had a companion, close enough to his heart, his donkey named Alladad khan. Alas! The donkey hits the bucket all of a sudden. Juggan wails in pain, howling day in day out, hovering heather and thither for his dead Alladad khan. There used to be a routine gathering of some young boys the colony at Devilal Panwala’s shop. The Kotwal of the town passes by the shop and bump into the boys.
He gives a good thrashing for their gathering as such and calls it unsocial. The boys forward a plausible excuse for such, as they inform him about the sudden demise of a respected figure of the society, whom they pretend to be Alladad Khan. They are supposed to be gathered here for the same. Kotwal on the other hand, getting late for the Nawab’s court finds a great excuse. He put forward the same excuse to Nawab Sahab, when questioned for his late arrival. Nawab has a soft corner for ‘wide acknowledgement’ at no price.
Thus, in order to cash the blood of late Alladad Khan, Nawab proclaim three days official leave to all and his self- visit to the Janaza of Alladad Khan Now, there goes a tacit preparation for the historical commemoration of this special occasion. But, soon the researchers of the Nawab suspect something fishy and discover the truth that Alladad Khan is no one but a donkey. This ignites a great chaos and pandemonium in the presidency. All are afraid of letting the whole preparation go vein and no one wishes to let this mania go down. And lo! They discover a man named Alladad Khan in the same township, who seems to be a solution to keep the ambience fervent. He was then planned to be killed and the Nawab shoulders the responsibility to do so. In this way, the Nawab get himself enlisted in the royal history of his presidency, as the most generous ruler, history has ever seen.
