Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice G. Rohini and Justice Sangeeta Dheengara directed Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to consider the Representation dated 20.06.2016 related to Population Control, submitted by of Ashwini Upadhyay, an Advocate and Spokesperson of BJP Delhi. Mr, Upadhyay submitted a Representation on 20.06.2016 to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare:
1. To declare ‘First Sunday’ of every month as ‘Health Day’ for educating and sensitizing the people about ill-effects of population explosion and increasing pollution and provide essential vaccines – contraceptive pills, free of cost, to economically weaker section and below poverty line families in spirit of the Article 21 read with Article 38, 39, 47, 48A and 51A of the Constitution of India;
2. To frame a Comprehensive Effective and Uniform Population Control Policy and expedite the implementation of ‘National Population Policy-2000’ and ‘National Commission to Review the Working of the Constitution’ recommendation for population control;
3. To have a chapter on ‘ill-effects of population explosion’ in curriculum of the children aged 6 to 14 years throughout the Country.
The Court disposed of the petition with liberty to petitioner to file a fresh petition if Government not take appropriate action.
