रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज और नेटवर्क18 द्वारा इक्कीस सौ करोड़ रुपये में खरीदे गए ईटीवी चैनलों में से हिंदी-उर्दू न्यूज चैनलों के हेड जगदीश चंद्र की यथास्थिति नई कंपनी में भी बनी रहेगी. सूत्रों के मुताबिक तीन वर्षों से हिंदी और उर्दू न्यूज चैनलों का काम देख रहे जगदीश चंद्र अपना काम पहले की तरह देखते रहेंगे. नई कंपनी के प्रबंधन ने उन्हें अपना काम देखते रहने के लिए हरी झंडी दे दी है.
जगदीश चंद्र ने जब ईटीवी हिंदी न्यूज चैनल्स की कमान संभाली थी तो ये सारे चैनल घाटे में चल रहे थे. उन्होंने अपने मैराथन प्रयास के जरिए ईटीवी के हिंदी न्यूज चैनलों को प्राफिट में पहुंचाया. आर्थिक मोर्चे पर उनकी कामयाबी को देखते हुए बाद में ईटीवी प्रबंधन ने उनके हवाले ईटीवी उर्दू चैनल भी कर दिया. ईटीवी चैनलों की बिक्री के बाद जगदीश चंद्र को लेकर कयास लगाए जा रहे थे. पर अब यह स्पष्ट हो गया है कि वे नए मैनेजमेंट में भी अपना काम देखते रहेंगे. इस बारे में ह्विस्पर्स इन द कारीडोर डॉट कॉम पर भी एक समाचार प्रकाशित हुआ है, जो इस प्रकार है-

The deal will offer a unique mix of national and regional channels catering to diverse genres like Hindi and regional entertainment, general news in English, Hindi and Regional Languages, business news in Hindi, English and Regional Languages, music, kids, devotional and Infotainment channels.
Including the soon-to-be launched services/variants, this combined bouquet of over 25 channels will be the most powerful and potentially profitable TV operation in the country, especially since India's TV industry is on the verge of a digital revolution. In the entire process, Jagdish Chandra, Head ETV Hindi and Urdu Channels who had turned around the Hindi and Urdu channels during the last three years and converted these loss-making channels into profitable venture notably retains his present status in the new set-up.
In a win-win situation, ETV Regional Hindi News content now may find place in Network18's other prestigious national channels like their national Hindi channel, IBN7, English Channel CNN-IBN and two business channels also, including CNBC Awaz. Similarly, these Network18 channels now shall also have a first-hand access to the grass-root news content of all North-Indian states, where ETV Hindi Channels are extremely popular. The entire deal has been masterminded by Network18's visionary Chairman Raghav Bahl, which has seriously upset other competitive media houses.
