: Reporter slapped at Press meet : Chandigarh : High drama prevailed in a Press conference organised by a lady, resident of Ludhiana, when she slapped a Punjabi newspaper correspondent on Monday afternoon in the premises of Press Club, Chandigarh. Jagjit Kaur, a resident of Ludhiana, had organised a Press conference claiming that she would provide evidence to the media about her sexual harassment by a high ranking police official of UT police. She told mediapersons that she has enough video recording against the official.
When reporters questioned her about the evidence and her petition in the Supreme Court which was dismissed by the court, she failed to provide any clue against the same in the conference. Kaur lost her temper when a correspondent of a Punjabi newspaper insisted that she show the evidence to the media. She slapped the correspondent in the Press meet at the conference hall and also misbehaved with other mediapersons.
The correspondent called the police and informed them about the incident. “The police team on the complaint of the newspaper journalist has registered a case against the Jagjit Kaur and further investigation in this case is in progress,” said Anok Singh, SHO posted at PS-26.
Meanwhile, an official spokesman of Punjab police has informed that CPO has ordered ADGP/Crime to club all the complaints of petitioner Jagjit Kaur and get them probed thoroughly through an IG rank officer of Crime Wing within four weeks time.
