Feminist India : Rape has become a pandemic in South Africa, so a medical technician named Sonette Ehlers developed a product that immediately got national attention there. Ehlers had never forgotten a rape victim telling her formerly, " If only i had teeth down there."
Some time afterward, a man came into the hospital where Ehlers works in excruciating pain becaused his penis was stuck in his zipper.
Ehlers merged thouse images and came up with a product she called RAPEX. It resembles a tube, with barbs inside. The woman inserts it like a tampon, with an applicator, and any man who tries to rape the woman impales himself on the barbs and must go to an emergencey room to have the RAPEX removed.
When critics complained that it was a medieval punishment, Ehlers replied tersely, " A medieval device for a medieval deed."
(this was in half the sky written by Nicholas Kristof)
***So what is your opinion of the RAPEX?***

Sakshi Dagar but is it practical? like carrying it ol d tym is not possible
Dominique Lalande I like it!
Christina Abreu If women are getting raped as often as men are going into liquor stores, I say YES. Hand these out. The problem is, could the forcefully take these out prior to the rape, then it wouldn't be as effective.
Man Aman Singh Chhina A simplistic solution. Not practical.
Marianne Eleanor the problem with this device is that you have to get raped for it to work. you have to be forcefully penetrated. maybe for a second, but still..the trauma is there. it may be an effective torture device for monsters who rape, but it doesn't prevent rape. and again, the solution is sought to lie within potential victims when no action is taken to stop potential perpetrators.
