TOI staffer attacked in Rohtak
ROHTAK: Apparently annoyed with a news item, a man assaulted a Times of India reporter and photographer at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports complexin Rohtak on Sunday. TOI reporter Deepender Deswal, along with photographer Manoj Dhaka, were walking near the tennis court, when the accused identified asNitu Pahalwan first attacked Dhaka with a tennis racket. When Deswal tried to intervene, he was also assaulted.
A police officer said that Nitu was annoyed with a news report carried in a national English daily on the suspension of a 10-year-old boy from the tennis academy on flimsy grounds. The report also mentioned as to how outsiders had been interfering in the functioning of the academy. Police registered a case under sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC against Nitu. Rohtak SSP Vivek Sharma said: "We have registered a case and the accused will be arrested."
