खबर है कि महेंद्र सिंह धोनी ने सिर्फ जी न्यूज पर ही नहीं बल्कि न्यूज नेशन चैनल पर भी मानहानि का मुकदमा किया है. इन दोनों न्यूज चैनलों के अलावा सस्पेंडेड आईपीएस आफिस जी. संपथ कुमार पर भी मानहानि का मुकदमा किया है. कुल सौ करोड़ रुपये का मानहानि का मुकदमा किया है.
मामला मद्रास हाईकोर्ट में है. कोर्ट ने धोनी की याचिका पर आरोपी न्यूज चैनलों को धोनी से संबंधित कोई ऐसी खबर दिखाने पर रोक लगा दी है जिससे उनकी छवि खराब होती हो. आज मुकदमे की सुनवाई करते हुए न्यायाधीश एस. तमिल वन्नन ने अंतरिम आदेश पारित किया. इस बारे में धोनी का कहना है कि…
"Since February 11, 2014, Zee Media Corporation Limited (Zee News Channel) and Sudhir Chaudhary, editor and business head of the channel in collusion with G.Sampath Kumar (suspended police officer) have been telecasting and broadcasting and hosting false news reports insinuating that the plaintiff (Dhoni) was involved in the illegal activities of betting, match fixing and spot fixing. Similarly News Nation Network Private Limited also joined the tirade against him and went to the extent of stating that he was summoned by the Tamil Nadu Police, which was utterly false. Those actions were done with an intention to project him as an object of hate and ridicule to the general public. Especially fans of the Indian Premier League cricket team Chennai Super Kings in Chennai have been negatively influenced by the malicious and false reports. The reports that were broadcast by the news networks revolved around IPL team Chennai Super Kings of which Dhoni is the captain and the alleged involvement of him in fixing devastated the reputation and image of the Dhoni and his image in the eyes of millions of fans all over the world."
