शर्मनाक : प्रेस क्लब आफ इंडिया में ब्रह्मोस ध्वस्त, पदाधिकारी मस्त

भारत-रूस के संयुक्त उपक्रम ब्रह्मोस की तरफ से प्रेस क्लब आफ इंडिया में काफी कुछ निर्माण-योगदान कराया गया. हॉल ठीक कराया गया. स्वच्छ पानी पीने से लेकर बैठने, सभा-सेमिनार करने आदि की व्यवस्थाएं की गईं. और, ब्रह्मोस मिसाइल के प्रतीक के तौर पर मिसाइल का एक माडल प्रेस क्लब के अंदर लॉन के कोने में लगवाया गया. प्रेस क्लब में घुसते ही ब्रह्मोस मिसाइल का माडल देखकर कोई भी नया शख्स कुछ देर ठिठक जाता था और उसे नजदीक से गौर से निहारता. मतलब, यह ब्रह्मोस मिसाइल का माडल भारतीय ताकत और तकनीक के प्रतीक के साथ-साथ प्रेस क्लब में नवीनता व बदलाव का भी परिचायक था.

लेकिन जाने किन लोगों ने प्रेस क्लब में घुसकर इस ब्रह्मोस मिसाइल के टुकड़े टुकड़े कर डाले. कुछ इधर गिरा, कुछ उधर पड़ा मिला. इस सनसनीखेज घटना का प्रेस क्लब के पदाधिकारियों पर कोई असर नहीं दिख रहा है. जनरल सेक्रेट्री की निश्चिंतता का आलम ये है कि प्रेस क्लब के भीतर शान से खड़े ब्रह्मोस के माडल को ध्वस्त किए जाने की एफआईआर तक उनकी तरफ से नहीं लिखवाई गई. पार्लियामेंट्र थाने में शिकायत दर्ज कराई है असिस्टेंट आफिस सेक्रेट्री जितेंद्र ने. यह शिकायत अज्ञात लोगों के खिलाफ दर्ज कराई गई है. मतलब ये कि कल को प्रेस क्लब में कोई घुसकर किसी को गोली मार जाए, किसी खाने में जहर मिला दे, बम धमाका कर दे तो उसे कोई देखने पहचानने वाला नहीं. सैकड़ों कर्मचारियों, पदाधिकारियों और सदस्यों वाले क्लब के भीतर कोई शख्स या कोई गुट इतना बड़ा घटनाक्रम कर जाता है और उसका नाम तक पता नहीं चलता किसी को. क्या यह विश्वास करने लायक है?

लेकिन कहने वाले कहते हैं कि अगर तोड़ने फोड़ने वाले लोग पदाधिकारियों के ही कैंप के हों और उनके ही शह पर किया गया हो तो उनका नाम कैसे सार्वजनिक हो सकता है. बहरहाल, तोड़े गए ब्रह्मोस मिसाइल के माडल को जुगाड़ टेकनालजी के जरिए फिर से खड़ा कर दिया गया है और नोटिस बोर्ड पर चस्पा कर दिया गया है कि अगली बार अगर ऐसा कुछ किया गया तो दोषी को बख्शा नहीं जाएगा. मतलब ये कि हर किसी को प्रेस क्लब के भीतर एक बार अपराध करने की छूट मिल चुकी है, दूसरी बार करने पर ही कार्रवाई की जाएगी. जय हो प्रेस क्लब के नए पदासीन हुए पदाधिकारियों की. राष्ट्रीय सम्मान का प्रतीक ब्रह्मोस मिसाइल के माडल को कोई ध्वस्त कर जाता है और प्रेस क्लब के तंत्र को इसका पता तक नहीं चल पाता, इससे शर्मनाक बात क्या हो सकती है. इस प्रकरण पर फेसबुक पर भी बातचीत और बहस शुरू हो गई है. किन्हीं Nirnimesh Kumar ने फेसबुक पर विस्तार से इस घटनाक्रम के बारे में लिखा है, जो इस प्रकार है…

It am sharing it with deep shock that some persons Wednesday late night forcibly removed the model of Bramhmos missile and throw it outside the Press Club's premises. It is a criminal act of vandalism. But the managing committee is dithering on getting the incident investigated or setting up a committee of journalists to probe the matter and punish the culprits.

The committee has put up a notice on the club's notice board which says that if any body is found indulging in such activity in future, his or her membership will terminated. We want immediate action. We cannot not wait for another such incident to happen to act.

The committee knows it very well the people who are opposed to having the model of the missile in the club's premises. They are opposing it on the ground that it is a symbol of militirisation which hurts the conscience of those who are peace-loving. But there is a strong section of members as well who say that it should be there as it reflects the might and pride of the country. We are peace-loving.

We suggest that the managing committee should resolve the matter as soon as possible as there is no guarantee that the incident will not recur. It should take a clear stand whether it wants to have it or remove it.

We would be very soon into the second month of the one-year term of the Press Club managing committee. But we see no indication of the committee revisiting the hefty increases in food and liquor prices last month.

First of all, we request the managing committee to share the rationale and the formula adopted for across the broad increases in the two consumables. Secondly, at least the committee can make the vegetables prices variable according to fluctuations in their prices in different seasons. To sale a plate of fried potato fingers for Rs. 25 when the best variety of it is at present selling at Rs. 1 a kg does not logical and practical. We all know that we do not get supply of best quality of vegetables.

Similarly, carrot, radish and tomatoes are selling at dirt cheap prices but we are selling a plate of salad at the shocking price of Rs. 25. Prices of eggs are also variable, but we have fixed prices for all egg dishes round the year.
We request the management committee to a have a permanent prices review committee comprising not only elected members of the committee but those whose inputs may prove beneficial.

We also request the committee to be 100 per cent transparent on each and every decision it takes. We urge it to notify every decision on the notice board.

We are sorry to say that it has been more than a fortnight since the last meeting of the committee but the members are totally ignorant what decision were taken then. We heard that the committee has formed certain sub-committees to take care of the routine works of the club but we do not who are the conveners of these committees. Please notify their names with their contact numbers on the notice board so that the members could contact them in case of any need at any time.
