New Delhi : For the lovers of Bhojpuri and Maithili, it was a perfect musical treat in the heart of the capital as popular singers Guddu Rangila and Ranjana Jha brought the house down with their performances. The fourth day of the festival was devoted to Bhojpuri and Maithili songs and the lovers of these traditions couldn’t have it enough.
The week-long musical extravaganza has brought together a medley of artists and music forms under a single banner. Artists like Shubha Mudgal, Jasbir Jassi and Atique Husain Hyderabadi have already performed at the festival.
‘Raag Rang’, a festival of music presented by Delhi government’s Department of Art, Culture, and Languages, is turning out to be a delight for music lovers who love to immerse themselves in the ‘ragas’ and ‘rangs’ of different Indian musical forms.
The multi-genre Astitva band will perform tomorrow at the festival that is being held every evening from 6:30 pm onwards at Central Park, Connaught Place.
The popular Euphoria band will perform on the sixth day and are certain to grab many an eyeball. Besides, Santosh Nair will render a performance in contemporary dance on the sixth day.
“Raag Rang’ is an initiative to bring together different genres of Indian music and dance under one banner and showcase the fact that they might be different in forms but exemplify our composite culture. It also symbolizes the synergy between all the Language Academies of Delhi, namely, Sindhi Academy, Punjabi Academy, Hindi Academy, Urdu Academy, Maithili/Bhojpuri Academy, Sanskrit Academy and the Sahitya Kala Parishad,” says Smt. Nila Mohanan, Addl. Secretary, Department of Art, Culture and Languages.
