Delhi HC notice to media portal on defamation plea of Nirmal Baba

New Delhi | Agency: PTI : The Delhi High Court today sought the response of vernacular media portal — bhadas4media.com — on a plea by self-styled godman Nirmal Baba demanding removal of alleged defamatory articles on the website and Rs 21 lakh in damages. Delhi-based Nirmaljit Singh Narula alias Nirmal Baba , who has been in media glare recently, has moved the court seeking a direction to stop the Hindi portal from carrying alleged defamatory articles on its site.

The godman has not only sought removal of the write-ups from the site but also sought Rs 21 lakh in damages from the media portal and its managing officials. Justice Kailash Gambhir, while issuing a notice to the portal to respond by May 30, also asked Nirmal Baba to file copies of complaints and FIRs registered, so far, against him to judge as to whether the articles are defamatory or not.

"Plaintiff (Nirmal Baba) is directed to place on record, the copy of complaints, FIRs which are registered against him. In the meanwhile, summons of the suit and the notice be sent to respondents (bhadas4media and Yashwant Singh) returnable on May 30," the court said. The godman, in his plea, alleged that around 80 defamatory articles have been posted on the website.

"Around 30 TV channels show programmes of Nirmal Baba who has also got 3.70 lakh followers on social networking site Facebook and such write ups have defamed him," it said. Recently, Nirmal Baba has been in news as a slew of complaints have been filed against him and a larger bench of the Delhi High Court has also issued notices to the government on a PIL accusing him of promoting superstition.

Delhi-based Nirmaljit Singh Narula alias Nirmal Baba has also sought Rs 21 lakh in damages from the website bhadas4media.com. Justice Kailash Gambhir while issuing notice to the website asked Baba to first place on record copies of complaints/FIRs lodged against him across the country. "Plaintiff (Nirmal Baba) is directed to place on record copy of complaints, FIRs registered against him. In the meanwhile, summons of the suit and the notice be sent to respondents (bhadas4media and Yashwant Singh) returnable on May 30," the court said.

HT Correspondent, Hindustan Times : New Delhi, May 24, 2012 : A defamation suit filed by self-proclaimed godman Nirmal Baba against a media portal seems to have backfired on him. While hearing a plea by Nirmaljit Singh Narula, popularly known as Nirmal Baba, demanding removal of ‘ defamatory’ articles from the website and Rs. 21 lakh as damages, the Delhi high court on Wednesday sought the response of the vernacular media portal — bhadas4media — in the case.

Justice Kailash Gambhir, however, also asked Nirmal Baba to file copies of complaints and FIRs registered against him to judge as to whether the articles are defamatory or not. “The plaintiff is directed to place on record the copy of complaints and FIRs against him. In the meantime, summons of the suit and the notice be sent to respondents (bhadas4media and Yashwant Singh) returnable on May 30,” the court said. Baba, who has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, had moved court seeking directions to stop the Hindi portal from publishing defamatory articles. “Around 30 TV channels show programmes of Nirmal Baba who has 3.7 lakh followers on Facebook. Such write-ups have defamed him," his petition said.

हाईकोर्ट की शरण में निर्मल बाबा

नई दिल्ली। विवादों में आए निर्मल बाबा ने अपने खिलाफ लगातार हो रहे नकारात्मक प्रचार को रोकने के लिए हाईकोर्ट की शरण ली है। अदालत ने उनके खिलाफ आपत्तिजनक लेख लिखने वाले एक वेबसाइट के मालिक को नोटिस जारी कर तलब किया है। अदालत ने निर्मल बाबा को भी उनके खिलाफ दर्ज सभी एफआईआर और शिकायतों की प्रतियां पेश करने का निर्देश दिया है। न्यायमूर्ति कैलाश गंभीर ने प्रतिवादी और निर्मल बाबा को 30 मई तक जवाब दाखिल करने का निर्देश दिया है। बाबा के अधिवक्ता ने अदालत को बताया कि उनके मुवक्किल के खिलाफ लगातार दुष्प्रचार किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि काफी अरसे से भड़ास मीडिया में करीब 80 आपत्तिजनक लेख लिखे गए हैं। इतना ही नहीं, लेख में ऐसी सामग्री प्रकाशित है, जो मानहानि की श्रेणी में आती है। उन्होंने अदालत से मुवक्किल को 21 लाख रुपये बतौर मानहानि मुआवजे की मांग की है।

प्रमुख संवाददाता ॥ नई दिल्ली : निर्मल बाबा की ओर से हाई कोर्ट में अर्जी दाखिल कर एक न्यूज पोर्टल पर आरोप लगाया गया है कि उस न्यूज पोर्टल के कारण उनकी मानहानि हुई है। अर्जी में कहा गया है कि न्यूज पोर्टल को निर्देश दिया जाए कि वह निर्मल बाबा संबंधित खबरों को वेबसाइट से हटाएं। साथ ही मानहानि के मामले में 21 लाख रुपये का मुआवजा दिए जाने की मांग की गई है। याचिका पर सुनवाई के दौरान हाई कोर्ट ने याचिकाकर्ता से कहा है कि वह उन तमाम एफआईआर और शिकायत की कॉपी अदालत में पेश करें जो उनके खिलाफ दर्ज कराई गई है। कोर्ट ने प्रतिवादी को भी नोटिस जारी किया है। अगली सुनवाई के लिए अदालत ने 30 मई की तारीख तय की है।

याचिकाकर्ता निर्मल बाबा ने इस मामले में जस्टिस कैलाश गंभीर की बेंच के सामने अर्जी दाखिल कर कहा है कि वादी का 30 टीवी चैनलों में प्रोग्राम आता है। उनके फेसबुक पर 3 लाख 70 हजार फॉलोअर्स हैं। उनके खिलाफ न्यूज पोर्टल में दी गई सामग्री से उनकी मानहानि हुई है और उन पर बेबुनियाद और मनगढंत आरोप लगाए गए हैं। याचिका में कहा गया है कि न्यूज पोर्टल में दी गई ऐसी तमाम सामग्री हटाए जाने का निर्देश दिया जाना चाहिए।
