New Delhi : It is a matter of great pleasure for the NUJ(I) that Jharkhand Government has announced Insurance of Rs 5 lakh for the journalists of the state. It was one of the major demands raised at the recently concluded National Executive meeting at Koderma from September 28 to 29. “Really, it is a great achievement for the NUJ(I). It will be highly beneficial for our friends in Jharkhand, Prasanna Mohanty, NUJ(I) Secretary General said in a statement released here today.
The NUJ(I) had braised the issue of social security for journalists and our appeal was that, let the Jharkhand Government be a pioneer in this respect. Social Welfare Minister Smt Arnapurna Devi and Agriculture Minister Shri Yogender Sahu, who attended the meeting on the party of the state government, had categorically assured that they would take up the matter with the Chief Minister. Just after three days of the meeting the Jharkhand Government has announced this welfare scheme.
