Press Release- Bigul Mazdoor Dasta and other organizations today protested at Jantar Mantar to support the struggling Maruti workers facing state repression for past one year. More than 150 workers, students and citizens gathered to support the protest demonstration. A memorandum stating the demands of Maruti workers was given to Prime minister office (PMO) and central labour ministry.
Ajay of Bigul Mazdoor Dasta told that in last year after 18th July incident, hundreds of workers were arrested without any inquiry. This year Haryana Police lathicharged brutally on workers and their families and arrested few workers who gathered to protest peacefully at residence of industrial minister at Kaithal. There are such innumerable incidences of repression on Maruti workers since last year which every justice loving citizen should protest against.
Shivani of Stree Mazdoor Sangathan told that even after one year the government or courts have not ordered for an inquiry or bailed the innocent workers. The memorandum submitted to PMO and central labour minstry demanded that a high level inquiry should be placed, reinstatement of the of the suspended workers. It also underlined that proper security should be provided to Maruti workers who will protesting on 18th July at Manesar.
Disha student organisation did a street play 'Machine' which displays how this profit driven system exploits workers and rising of workers against it. Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Stree Mazdoor Sangathan and Karawal Ngar Mazdoor Union were also present here to support the protest demonstration.
