In an article Shock and emotions run high in our Noida Plus edition of February 29, 2008, several allegations were made regarding the character and background of two young adults Anirudh Rawat and Sneha Kapoor, who had died in a car crash outside the National Gallery of Modern Art on the India Gate roundabout on February 24, 2008.

There were also adverse comments from some parents published along with the news article. While we did make an attempt at clarifying the inaccuracy of details through an article dated October 3, 2008, published in the Noida Plus edition, by mentioning regrets for some comments of parents, we understand that it did not explain the situation completely as the allegations/comments of the parents were false and inaccurate.

Statements of the parents in the main news article were published to the effect that they were confident in their branded armour of designer labels; they had parents who were rich enough to satisfy every whim; that these affluent kids lived to play hard; that they had an ivory tower existence where courtesy their parents they were blessed with security and life without any obstacles and troubles or even rules; they thought nothing of breaking the law or manipulating it to suit their interest; they thought life was one big party; and so on.

On the contrary, both the children came from middle-class families.Sneha was a second-year student at Amity University and was like any other girl next door.Though she did go for occasional parties, she was basically a home bird and loved to spend time with her family. She was well grounded and very popular. She was working part time thrice a week to earn some pocket money. In the last few moments of her life, she kept pleading to the driver of the car to slow down. If she had been heard, she would be alive.

Anirudh was a well brought up and well behaved boy.He was simple and sensitive. He belonged to a family of educationists, was pursuing a BA from Delhi University and was a voracious reader. With the backing of his working parents, he had the right moral values. Through this article, we sincerely regret the unwarranted pain, anguish, suffering and ill-fame caused to the departed souls, Anirudh Rawat and Sneha Kapoor, and their families, by way of our news article.
