E – 24 was a soft launched few months ago and we are continuously evaluating and analyzing performances based on viewers feedback and research.The business environment of E-24 dictates a need for operational efficiency with regard to viewership and sales. It is imperative that we transform E -24 into a popular & successful channel and therefore we will continuously have to modify the product offering to satisfy viewer’s needs.We therefore felt that a modification was required and our initial modifications helped us to increase the viewership, popularity and the distribution of E -24. It obviously means a redeployment of people which is a difficult decision but sometimes have to be taken keeping the popularity and business viability in mind. However, it is false to say that they were journalist as most of them have being producers/ content developers. It is also false to say that we could not get a license for news. We had applied for a general entertainment license and not a News license for E-24. It is also false to say that these people were not given any notice as I have personally met these people individually/in groups and explained to them in great detail the need for change. It is also false to say that we are converting E-24 into a music channel. E-24 will continue to have a mix of bollywood/ television programming as per our original plan encompassing bollywood news/ features/ magazine shows/TV content and music. I have in fact offered reemployment to these people in our various businesses.This is the universal guiding principle for any media / business anywhere in the world and we are not an exception to this rule.I wish you had clarified and understood the reason before you wrote this one sided article.
