BiharTimes.com, a premier news portal is organising a two day “BiharTimes Conclave 10” at Hotel Maurya, Patna on Saturday, December 18 and Sunday, December 19, 2010. The BiharTimes Conclave has established itself as the biggest participatory event of Bihar involving gathering of the best minds from govt, politics, business, art, film, activism & academia & has become the most sought after international engagement in Bihar. More than 200 persons from various parts of the world along with important functionaries of the state are expected to participate in the Conclave. The theme of this conclave is “Challenges of Change in Bihar”.
The Conclave aims at bringing successful Diasporas and local Change Agents on one platform to accelerate the pace of socio economic change in Bihar. The first ever initiative of its kind has got warm response from a large no. of non-resident Biharis who have established their names in their professional fields. Around 200 delegates, mostly eminent NRIs and experts from different fields along with local change initiators are set to participate in the two-day meet.
For the first time a Japanese delegation will also participate in the event. One of the delegate Prof. Makoto Kato is currently working at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. Prof. Kato is an expert of Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Conservation and Groundwater Engineering. He wishes to work for development of Bihar and plans to survey Gaya for underground dam construction, underground water preservation, and supply to farmers during summers.
Dr. Katsuhiko Kurosawa is a Young and promising researcher from Seikei University. He has worked extensively in Japan, Australia, and Taiwan. He is interested in developing arid lands of Bihar through development of appropriate eco-technological approach for energy generation and carbon sequestration.
Prof. Masahiro Saito, a well known researcher in Japan. Prof.Masahiro Saito and Dr.Katsuhiko Kurosawa are experts on bio energy and Sanjay Kumar is a solar energy expert. All of them would participate in special session on energy. Another speaker would be Dr Bhaskar Choubey, originally from Bihar, and now a professor in the University of Glasgow, UK, has started a project which will enable internet users in interiors to get connected to the info-highway. His computer would make use of solar power. Solar power will be a suitable choice for states like Bihar, which has adequate sunlight and power scarce. It would use GSM 3G or 2G mobile technology for accessing the internet.
Deepak Kumar an IIT alumnus and Head, Global SAP Operations would be a speaker along with Prof. M J Warsi of Washington University, Hari Shankar Sharma, Founder President (GCNN), Sweden, Manoj Kumar from Ausralia, Shakil Kakvi and Belal Khan from Qatar, Ravi Ranjan Kumar Managing Director Stag Programming Solutions Ltd London, Young novelist from IT BHU, Pryesh Ranjan and film maker Nitin Chandra are some other names.
Some known Bihari entrepreneurs like B N Singh, MD Alkem group Mumbai, Anil K Sharma CMD Amrapali group New Delhi, Ashwini Kumar, MD Palm Apparel, Chennai and Anil Sinha MD, Call2Connect are also participating in the conclave. Participants from international organizations like Samar Verma, Senior Program Officer, Think Tank Initiative IDRC’s Regional Office for South Asia. , Anurag Sinha, Political analyst , from Canada and Amit Kumar from World Bank are also participating in the event.Dr, Pashupati Mishra, a famous neuro surgeon of Apollo Hospital, Chennai is also participating in this conclave.
A host of local change initiators like Irfan of Samman foundation, Kaushalendra of Kaushalya foundation, J K Sinha who runs a special school for Mushhars would also participate in the event. This event has become a brand event of social entrepreneurs of the state as well as launching platform for new ideas to initiate change in the society.
