: protests alleged remarks made by Dy CM against journalists : A delegation of 12 journalists from print and electronic media representing various organisations of journalists today (7 Feb.) met the Governor of Maharashtra K. Sankaranarayanan at Raj Bhavan Mumbai.The delegation presented the Governor a memorandum protesting the alleged remarks made by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar against journalists at a rally in Nanded on Friday 4th February 2011.
The delegation led by Convenor of the Patrakar Halla Virodhi Kruti Samiti S.M.Deshmukh and President of the State Accreditation Committee Prafulla Marpakwar told the Governor that the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar instigated the police against journalist after which the police beat up some of the journalists covering the rally.
The delegation while seeking an unconditional apology from the Deputy Chief Minister “within 48 hours”, requested that the Police Inspector and other policemen who beat up journalists be suspended from service and that the Superintendent of Police of Nanded be transferred immediately. The Governor assured the delegation that he will speak to the Chief Minister in the matter.
