Veteran Cricketer Mohinder Amarnath and Former Indian Cricket Team Captain Saurav Ganguly will inaugurate 15 km All India open Invitation Road Race and 4 km Radio Misty Fraternity run on 7th October at Siliguri. Baghajatin Athletic Club, which is one of the oldest club in Siliguri is organising this event in association with the First and Number one fm station of North Bengal and Sikkim Radio Misty 94.3 fm.
This Event creates more than the spirit of competition and the carnival-like atmosphere on Mahalaya. Road Race will start from Bagdogra where as Radio Misty Fraternity will start from Mallaguri in Siliguri. A cash award of above one lakh rupees will be given to winners of this race, Addressing a press conference Baghajatin Club President Nawal Kishore soni said club wanted to create an awareness among the masses in the region about the need to keep oneself fit and healthy and it was with this objective in mind that they are organising this race from last 25 years.Radio Misty is our partner in whole event.
We are organising beside Road Race 4 km Radio Misty Fraternity run. Deputy Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Nantu Paul and Radio Misty Vice President Dilip Dugar were also present on the occasion. BAC general secretary Shivnath Ganguly said that we have started of a region-wide movement that would see the participation of thousands of people in this event. Sporting legends, including Kapil Dev, PT Usha, Saba Karim, Milkha Singh, Gurbax Singh, Ashish Nehra, Reeth Abraham, Irfan Pathan, Madhumita Bisht and Bula Chaudhury had flagged off the race since 1985.
