14th Annual Convocation of The DSC

Excellent Record Maintained : The annual Convocation of The Delhi School of Communication (DSC) was held on April 23rd 2010, at the PHD Chamber of Commerce, New Delhi, where students of the XIVth batch were awarded the Post Graduate Diploma. Established by the Delhi Education Society (Pvt.) Ltd. in September 1995, DSC continues to maintain its excellent record within the communications industry.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Nikhil Dey, President, PR, Genesis Burson-Marstellar. The occasion was also graced by other eminent leaders including Mr Murad Ali Baig, Author and Consultant, Dr S P Aggarwal, Principal, Deshbandhu College and Dr N K Gupta, Reader, Delhi University. This was the fourteenth successive year in which the graduating students have been placed in premier organizations including Vaishnavi Communications, Contract Advertising, Group M, Madhuban Resorts, MPG – Global Media Group, Metals, Publicis, Cross Hairs and TERI, among others.

Delivering the Convocation Address to the students, Mr Nikhil Dey urged the young minds, who are looking to make a mark in this highly competitive professional world, to focus on the ‘RSS feed’- which stands for Reliable, Simple and Solution-oriented! These, he stressed, are important in a world where one can get easily enamoured with style over substance, with appearances and badge value meaning a lot, making us forget to see what really matters.

He stated that these three traits need to be at the core of every individual’s professional reputation; reliable defining character, simple showcasing the skill and solution-oriented defining the attitude. What individuals add to these, in terms of style, specialization and creativity, will depend on the unique path each one takes, but without these, such a path will not take them much far.

Mr Nikhil Dey gave away the apex awards on the occasion. The Gold medal given to the student standing first in the overall order of merit was bagged by Ms Nikita Shah while the Silver and the Bronze medals were awarded to Mr Deepak Kumar and Mr Himanshu Joshi. The Surojit Lahiri Trophy for Holistic Excellence was awarded to Mr Himanshu Joshi. The occasion also saw the launch of the fifth book by DSC Books Pvt. Ltd, a collection of myriad poems by the Dean, Professor Ramola Kumar, titled ‘The Sacred Urn.’

Launched on September 5th, 1995, DSC focuses on providing the communication and media industry with management professionals who are competently trained to be tomorrow’s leaders in this industry.
