Yashwant Jee, Namaskar, In an R.T.I application, the District Magistrate, Bhagalpur, Bihar, vide letter No.188,PRD, dated May 17, 2011, has asked the management of Dainik Jagran (Bhagalpur unit in Bihar) to explain the actual position in the context of the R.T.I application of Mr. Bipin Kumar Mandal, a lawyer of Munger(Bihar).
The lawyer Mr.Bipin Kumar Mandal, in his R.T.I application, dated April,13,2011, had sought information from the District Magistrate of Bhagalpur regarding the delay in legal actions against the Jagran media house management for alleged illegal publication of Dainik Jagran from Bhagalpur in Bihar. Mr. Mandal also enclosed three letters of the Press Registrar, New Delhi, addressed to Mr. Kanchan Sharma, Jamalpur, Munger, Bihar in his RTI application.
The Press Registrar (New Delhi) vide letters, dated 15-07-2010, 17-03-2011 & 17-05-2011 has clearly disclosed that the office of the Press Registrar (New Delhi) has no record about any publication or edition of Dainik Jagran from Bhagalpur in Bihar..Besides,the Press Registrar has also stated in his letters that the District Magistrate is the appropriate authority to deal with the issues of any illegal publication of a newspaper.
Munger lawyers and journalists have begun campaigns against the illegal publication of various dailies from all district headquarters of Bihar and Utter Pradesh. Really, it is a tirade against the corruption in publication of daily newspapers in India. The series in this context will continue.
Thanks.
