Why Reform

Media, the Fourth Pillar of Democracy, has taken upon itself the delicate task of acting as the “Surrogate for Public”. It often asks probing and penetrating questions from the other three Pillars of Democracy. However, in order to meet the deadlines, competitions and the market forces, the Media, frequently succumbs to the pressures resulting in instances of misinformed reporting, manipulated news, trial by media, sensationalisation of trivial issues for more eyeballs or lack of human insensitivity. Thus, there is an oft repeated call for Media Restraint.

The unique position that Media occupies in a democracy, the reform can best come from within. It is with this intention that IIJMC, dedicated to education in the field of mass communication and journalism, is undertaking a humble initiative for elevating the standard of journalism in the country.

Our Endeavour

To bring together some of the best minds in the world and provide a platform under one roof for deliberations on the “Confluence of the Pillars of the Democracy”.
