टीवी टुडे ग्रप ने इनक्रीमेंट और प्रमोशन की उम्मीद न करने को कहा
एनडीटीवी ग्रुप द्वारा मल्टी सिटी लोकल चैनल के कांसेप्ट के तहत दिल्ली-एनसीआर के लिए लांच किए गए चैनल मेट्रोनेशन के बारे में सूचना है कि यहां से सभी विभागों से कुल मिलाकर दो दर्जन से ज्यादा लोगों की छंटनी कर दी गई है। इस चैनल की हेड सुपर्णा सिंह हैं जो पहले एनडीटीवी प्रोमो की हेड हुआ करती थीं। सूत्रों का कहना है कि मेट्रोनेशन को मुंबई और चेन्नई में भी लांच करने की तैयारियां कर ली गई थी और स्टाफ भी भर्ती किया गया था लेकिन मंदी का दौर शुरू होने के बाद फिलहाल इस प्रोजेक्ट के विस्तार पर विराम लगता दिख रहा है। बीच-बीच में इस चैनल के बंद होने की अफवाहें भी उड़ती रही पर प्रबंधन ने इससे इनकार किया है।
सूत्रों के मुताबिक मेट्रोनेशन से हटाए गए लोग कैमरा सेक्शन, पीसीआर, एडीटोरियल, कापी आदि विभागों से हैं। सूत्रों का कहना है कि प्रबंधन ने मेट्रोनेशन के लिए फिलहाल कम खर्चे और न्यूनतम स्टाफ में काम चलाने का फंडा अपनाया गया है।
उधर अहमदाबाद से मिली एक अपुष्ट सूचना के मुताबिक टीवी9, गुजरात से चार एंकरों से जबरन इस्तीफा ले लिया गया है। इनके नाम नहीं पता चल पाए हैं।
आज तक, तेज और अन्य न्यूज चैनलों को संचालित करने वाली देश की दिग्गज मीडिया कंपनियों में से एक टीवी टुडे के सीईओ की तरफ से पिछले दिनों जो आंतरिक मेल जारी किया गया उसमें आर्थिक मंदी से निपटने के लिए कई बातें कही गई हैं। मेल में साफ तौर पर कहा गया कि प्रमोशन या इनक्रीमेंट की कोई उम्मीद न की जाए और जितने भी फालतू खर्चे हैं, उन्हें बंद किया जाए। मेल इस प्रकार है-
Dear Colleagues 2008 has been a difficult year due to adverse macro environment both for the Country and the Industry. It is sad but true that while the Government and Industry is trying to take all steps to come out of this economic slow down, this year will indeed be a lot tougher before it becomes better. The last two years were good for the company. Our top line was good and our bottom line was healthy. When we were doing well, we rewarded all of you, as we believe that it is a team effort that has led to the success of the organization. Now the time has come that we look inwards and prepare ourselves for the rough days ahead. We need to conserve capital and be cautious in our spending so that we can steer through the downturn and come out as winners. We want each one of you to partner with us in our efforts to tide over this unprecedented situation.
- Keeping this in mind, as a preventive measure, we are proposing to take the following steps:
- Hold all salary raises which were due from Q3-08 onwards and review the same on a continuing basis.
- Incur the expenses which are vital for the smooth functioning and stop all other expenses without which the work would go smoothly.
- Please note that each one of us will have to walk that extra mile so that we can survive this difficult period. Let us put our hearts and minds together and give better than our best in this hour of need.
