Dear All, Very glad to inform you all that the memberships drive was started on the 20th January in the presence of Tara Gandhi Ji, the granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi. There were more than 50 people from various parts of the country to support the cause and take the membership. Tara Gandhi Ji gave membership to Fifty Khudai Khidmatgar came from across the country.
This day was chosen because 20th January is the 23rd death anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. Faisal khan on the behalf of Khudai Khidmatgar talked about the idea behind the revival of Khudai khidmatgar. Moreover he talked how it’s going to work in different parts of country and called this program as a major stepping stone towards its revival process since November 2008, when the decision was taken for its revival in Delhi meeting. He also mentioned the need for such an organization in this time when self interests are creeping into this field of Social Activism and so it becomes the need of the time to have an organization which works without any desire for worldly reward, he further said that the “reason to choose this place was Khudai Khidmatgars wanted to convey this message to those people who were responsible for the assassination of Bapu, that they have been able to kill his body but by not his ideas”.
Ideas which emerged more strongly after his assassination. In her address to gathering of Khudai Khidmatgar, Tara Gandhi ji made some remarkable statements depicting history of the freedom struggle and stressed on the role of Badshah Khan and his organization khudai khidmatgar. Tara Gandhi ji strongly appreciated for this step and complimented the efforts for its revival. She also expressed her pleasure about this program being held at Gandhi Smriti at Tees January Marg where Gandhi Ji was assassinated. Manimala ji, the prominent social activist and director of Gandhi Smriti concluded this program saying that this meet where 90 percent of youth are present, it makes her recall the days of J.P movement.
Prominent peace activist Prof. V.K.Tripathi of Sadbhav Mission from IIT Delhi read a beautiful poetry on Gandhi Ji, which he composed himself years ago. Then all the members were told to gather near The Martyr’s Column, the spot where Gandhi Ji was assassinated to read the oath of khudai khidmatgar with Manimala Ji. Gandhians and prominent members of the civil society were also present.
