समाचार एजेंसी यूनीवार्ता के दिल्ली आफिस परिसर में कल स्थिति इतनी बिगड़ी कि पुलिस बुलानी पड़ी. 9 रफी मार्ग पर स्थित यूएनआई आफिस में महाप्रबंधक एके भंडारी आऐ थे. वे मुंबई से बोर्ड मीटिंग से लौटे थे. छह महीने से तनख्वाह के लिए तरस रहे यूएनआईकर्मियों को जब पता चला कि भंडारी अपने चेंबर में बैठे हैं तो सबने घेराव की तैयारी कर ली.
करीब सौ-सवा सौ कर्मचारी भंडारी के चेंबर के आगे पीछे एकत्र हो गए और किसी भी कीमत पर सेलरी देने की मांग करने लगे. यूएनआई को दुरुस्त कर देने के नाम पर आए भंडारी के राज में कर्मियों को पहले से ज्यादा सेलरी संकट का सामना करना पड़ रहा है. कर्मचारियों के आक्रामक तेवर देख भंडारी को पसीने आ गए. वे डर गए. उन्होंने अपने को घिरता देख मदद के लिए पुलिस को फोन कर दिया. पुलिस ने मौके पर आकर भंडारी के खिलाफ नारेबाजी कर रहे कर्मियों को समझाया-बुझाया और शांत कराया.
बताया जा रहा है कि यूनियन के लोग सेलरी संकट बढ़ते जाने से नाराज हैं और किसी भी कीमत पर अब भंडारी को देखना नहीं चाहते. यूनियन के लोगों ने पुलिस को मौके पर बुलाने व यूएनआई परिसर में घुसाने के लिए भंडारी की निंदा और आलोचना की है. इस बाबत भंडारी को यूनियन के लोगों ने एक पत्र भी लिखा है, जो इस प्रकार है….

Sir,
At the outset the UNI Workers Union Delhi, condemns the action of calling police into the campus to intimidate the staff members sitting on a peaceful Dharana protesting against perpetual and inordinate delay in disbursement of salaries.
The Union is of the view that it is none other than the management that mandated to call the police in the office campus. And as the police entered the premises today ( May 11, 2010), the management can’t deny its role.
Moreover the styles of functioning of the management for past one and half year affirm our instant view of not taking “denial” on face value.We therefore, demand the management to own its responsibility of calling police or prove otherwise.
We would like to put the management’s assurance given to employees on record that “now onwards every staff members of UNI, irrespective of his or her place of posting, will get at least one salary at the interval of every 30 days. Also the earlier practice of segregation between the non journalists and journalists in the matter of salary disbursement at the agency headquarters will cease to exit.”
We would like to caution the management to stick to its public commitment; otherwise it will attract the wrath of the employees.

Being a UNI employee, I would also like to condemn the poor state of disbursement of salaries in the company. I believe the dismal working conditions are not only discouraging the employees to work hard but also to quit the company which once rated the number 1 news agency of the country. The growing gap in salary disbursement should be considered a shame upon the management which has not only failed to keep its promises but also to improve the condition of the company in any way. The situation is creating frustration among the workers and making them feel that UNI is the most anti-employee organisation to work with.
