: भारत सरकार और आईसीसी प्रेसीडेंट से पुनर्विचार की मांग की : Broadcast Editors’ Association : Press Note : New Delhi, 01.04.2011 : The Broadcast Editors’ Association (BEA) underlines the utmost importance to the interest of the viewers of our country. The decision of International Cricket Council (ICC) to withdraw the accreditation of journalists covering Cricket World Cup matches is not only against this interest but also in contravention of the rights of the citizens to be informed.
We tried our best to make the ICC understand this but the recalcitrant attitude of the latter rendered our efforts sterile in the past three days. The BEA also calls upon the Government of India to take a serious view of the high-handed attitude of the ICC considering the importance that Cricket has assumed in India and also in view of the fact that the Presidents of India and Sri Lanka will witness the final match. Since it is a public occasion by virtue of these facts, the role of the media to inform cannot be undermined.
It also calls upon the ICC President Sharad Pawar to review the unconstitutional decision taken by the international body for cricket.
