: फ्रंट पेज पर प्रकाशित किया एपोलॉजी : खबर लिखने वाले सिटी एडिटर को भेजा अहमदाबाद : टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया, मुंबई ने अखबार तथा इंटरनेट पर पब्लिश की गई एक खबर के लिए बांबे हाई कोर्ट से माफी मांगा है. इस माफीनामा को अखबार ने अपने फ्रंट पेज पर छापा है. टीओआई ने माफी मांगते हुए कहा है कि भ्रष्टाचार से संबंधित जिस स्टोरी को हमने अपने अंकों में छापा था वह सही नहीं थी. इसके कवर करने वाले रिपोर्टर ने आवश्यक चीजों की जांच पड़ताल नहीं की और ना ही बांबे हाई कोर्ट के रजिस्ट्रार जनरल से इस संबंध में जानकारी प्राप्त की.
बताते चलें कि टीओआई ने अपने 20 एवं 22 नवम्बर तथा 4 दिसम्बर के अंक तथा अपने इंटरनेट एडिशन में उदय दंडवते की स्टोरी छापी थी, जिसमें उदय ने आरोप लगाया था कि वसीयत विभाग द्वारा उसके पिता जी का मृत्यु प्रमाण पत्र उपलब्ध कराने में इसलिए देर की जा रही है क्योंकि उन्होंने संबंधित विभाग को पैसे देने से इनकार कर दिया था. जिसके बाद मुख्य न्यायाधीश ने एक जांच समिति गठित की. इस समिति ने जांच के बाद पाया कि उदय द्वारा लगाए गए सारे आरोप गलत हैं.
इस खबर पर माफीनामा छापने के साथ ही टीओआई प्रबंधन ने इस खबर को लिखने वाले सिटी एडिटर अनिल सिंह को भी इसकी सजा दी है. उनका तबादला अहमदाबाद के लिए कर दिया गया है. अब वे मुंबई की बजाय अहमदाबाद में अपनी सेवाएं देंगे.

An apology to the Bombay High Court
The Times of India had published three articles in its print edition on November 20, 22 and December 4, 2010 and its internet edition on December 1, 2010 regarding the allegations by Uday Dandavate that his father’s probate was inordinately delayed because he allegedly refused to pay money to officials in the Testamentary department. Subsequently, an inquiry was set up by the Hon’ble Chief Justice which found that the allegations were false and came to the conclusion, Uday and his Advocate were to be blamed for the delay. As a matter of fact, the said Testamentary petition was decided in less than three years, out of which a period of almost two and a half years was consumed by the party and his Advocate, in paying court fees, complying with various formalities and removing office objections. Accordingly, to this effect, a press release was issued by the Hon’ble Bombay High Court on 3.12.2010, which we have already published in an article on 05.12.2010, clarifying to our readers that the said allegations of corruption, as reported by us, were not true. We hereby state that our reporter, though required, did not verify or ascertain the correct facts from Registrar General of the Hon’ble High Court or any other concerned official. As a result, incorrect, misleading and wrong information was printed and published by us, as also published on the internet edition about the functioning of the Testamentary department of the Hon’ble High Court, Bombay. We deeply regret the same and express our sincere and profound apology for this lapse.
We humbly submit that, we never had any intention to scandalize or lower the supreme authority, majesty and dignity of the Hon’ble High Court, Bombay. We state that what has happened was purely out of inadvertence and a lapse on our part and express our deep regret for the same. We had no intention whatsoever to malign or disrespect the Hon’ble Bombay High Court. We most respectfully submit that we have the highest regard for judiciary and express our deep regret and sincerely and unconditionally apologize for the harm and inconvenience caused by us.
