The Archives Sales Counter of Prasar Bharati was inaugurated this morning by Sh. S.C. Panda, Chief Executive Officer, Prasar Bharati and Sh. F. Sheheryar, Director General, All India Radio. Located at the Akashvani Bhawan premises on New Delhi’s Parliament Street, this newly built structure is expected to fulfil the objectives of bringing the rare archival assets of All India Radio and Doordarshan to public domain through its commercially released ACDs, DVDs and VCDs.
The Prasar Bharati Archives comprising the treasure trove of authentic audio-visual archival titles of both All India Radio and Doordarshan is one of the biggest Archives in the International broadcasting / telecasting network. Over the years, AIR & Doordarshan have been preserving, in their Archives for posterity, choicest fare of documentaries, features, interviews and music of different genres rendered by eminent exponents which they bring out through ACDs, DVDs and VCDs. The Prasar Bharati Archives began its humble journey of showcasing its many precious nuggets way back in 2003.
This rich fare of the archival splendour consists of the recordings of Ramacharitmanas, Bharat Ek Khoj, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Vidushi M.S. Subbulakshmi, Begum Akhtar, Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna and many other renowned maestros.
