New Delhi  : In protest against the caste based SC/ST humiliation, an appeal was filed against two high profile scribes of Joint Editor level of UNITED NEWS OF INDIA (UNI), a Prestigious News Agency of the country before Delhi High Court. UNI Joint Editor Neeraj Bajpayee, Journalist Ashok Upadhyay and an another employee of UNI Mohan Lal Joshi were sent to Tihar Central jail in the year 2013 in connection with the SC/ST case lodged at Parliament Street police station with FIR No. 61/2013. The trio who have unleashed a reign of terror in the organisation were put behind the bars for one week from 12/12/2013 to 18/12/2013.

As per the case Mr Bajpayee, Mr Upadhyay journalists and Mr Joshi, a clerk in the UNI, had humiliated and had threatened the victim, the petitioner Virender Verma, a Dalit employee of UNI in the office premises on 14/03/2013. The incident took place within the premises of the UNI located on 9, Rafi Marg, New Delhi situated within 200 mts of the Indian Parliament.

The case was lodged Under Sec 3 of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in which the accused persons who were sent to the jail by the court were lately acquitted by the lower court. The appeal has been preferred against the order by the victim who belongs to scheduled caste as the Govt. of NCT/Delhi Police failed to prefer any appeal against the accused persons.

The case is being argued by the leading counsel of Delhi High Court Sh. Jitendra Kumar Jha in assistance with other counsels including Sh. Santosh Kumar, Sh. Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Sh. Durga Prasad Singh, Sh. Shariq Iqubal, Sh. Prakash Kumar, Sh. Vikash , Sh. Arvind Pandey, Sh. Anil Mishra, Sh. Manoj Kumar, Sh. Matin Ahamad, Sh. Gopal Singh, Smt. Seema.

Through the appeal the counsels tried to draw the attention of the High court towards some of the facts remained unnoticed by the Lower court that primarily the prosecution deliberately dropped the vital witness from the witness list and only examined 6 witnesses out of 17 witnesses and other legal points.
