IFWJ Welcomes the Decision to Provide Facilities to Digital Media
New Delhi : Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) has welcomed the decision to provide all facilities and benefits to the journalists of digital media similar to those of the traditional media of print and TV. It has been the long-standing demand of the IFWJ that since the journalists of the digital media have got more reach and penetration than any other media and therefore they must be given the accreditation, CGHS facilities and the advertisements etc.
In a statement today the IFWJ President, Vice President and Secretary have said as the definition of the Working Journalists have been changed in the new Labour Code to include full time or a part-time journalist working for any newspaper, electronic or other media, the extension of facilities to the digital media is a natural corollary of it.
The IFWJ has also asked the Government to immediately set up the Media Commission to study the growth and the economy of the media and also to suggest the effective measures for the freedom and expression in view of the information explosion.
