News18 India’s ‘Rising Uttarakhand’ program sees participation from senior political leaders

Implementation of UCC in Uttarakhand is not for votes : CM Dhami

Dehradun : India’s No. 1 news network, News18 Network, recently organized the latest edition of its regional leadership summit series – “Rising Uttarakhand” in Dehradun. The ‘Rising Uttarakhand’ summit witnessed participation from prominent politicians and personalities including the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami. The summit hosted various discussions on the identity of Uttarakhand, the diversity of the state, and most importantly, making Uttarakhand the leading state of India on different development parameters over the next decade.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the government is making law for implementing Uniform Civil Code (UCC). One law under UCC will be applicable to all without any discrimination. He said that religious conversion was a concern in Uttarakhand. CM added forced religious conversions were wrong under any circumstances and they will bring a stringent law to curb this.

He also said that under the leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the image of India has changed on the global stage and it is a matter of pride for the country that it has got the presidency of G-20. Commenting on the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Dhami said that Rahul Gandhi’s yatra has limited value and appeal. He further added in a lighter vein that the fact that Rahul Gandhi does not feel cold should be a subject of research.

Dhami further said that an action plan for Aviral Ganga–Nirmal Ganga has been prepared. As part of his government’s vision to rid Ganges of pollution, 132 drains have been closed. He further supported the land law as being in the interest of the state, and a decision that was taken only after an accurate assessment was conducted.

On the Ankita murder case, CM Dhami said that immediate action was taken against the accused and strict sections were imposed. He assured that exemplary punishment will be meted out to the culprits.

On the current Joshimath crisis CM Dhami stated that around 900 individuals have been impacted. He added that the individuals have been relocated to secure locations. Dhami mentioned that it is a difficult situation for those who have been displaced and that both the Central and state governments are collaborating for the rehabilitation of the people of Joshimath.

Shri Harish Rawat, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and leader of the Congress party also attended the event and stated that there is an “air of change” that is palpable in the state. He asserted that Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Jodo Yatra” had created a sense of excitement among the public and generated significant support for Gandhi.

Harish Rawat also reflected on his time as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He said, “When I was the Chief Minister, I used to work for around 18 hours every day and even now I work for around 14 hours daily. I am not one to shy away from challenges.” He added that his party is fully prepared for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Harish Rawat identified unemployment as the major problem for the state and said that malnutrition and inflation are some key challenges faced by the State government

During the conversation, Rawat also expressed his admiration for Dhami. He said that good work must be acknowledged. Every individual has some strengths and weaknesses and Dhami also has positive attributes.
Rajya Sabha MP and BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi in his session stated that Uttarakhand epitomizes valour and spirituality in equal measure.

Sudhanshu Trivedi also commented on ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He mentioned that the Congress leader is talking about Taliban and alleged that Congress has made a mockery of the Constitution.
Sudhanshu Trivedi also discussed Sanatan Dharma and reiterated the strong and deep connection between the saffron colour and India. He also emphasized that the Sanatan Dharma is the one true religion in the world; rest are sects.

Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt also spoke at News18 Uttar Pradesh / Uttarakhand’s ‘Rising Uttarakhand’ summit. He said that India’s reputation is improving worldwide. India is globally at the forefront in many areas, and that is why India has been awarded the Presidency of G-20 at this time. Ajay Bhatt also said that the world is looking to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Minister of State for Defence said that China does not dare to challenge India today, and our soldiers in Galwan have given a fitting response to China. Ajay Bhatt said that Rahul Gandhi is supportive of China, and his Bharat Jodo Yatra will not have any impact on the country’s politics.

Uttarakhand BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt and Congress state president Karan Mahra also spoke at the ‘Rising Uttarakhand’ summit. BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt said that his party has always been against appeasement. He believes that appeasement leads to unrest in society. He said that encroachment in the name of religion is wrong and should not be given a religious colour. Mosques were not the only structures to be demolished, and protection of life and property has always been given priority. He also said that he opposes religious conversions that take place by luring people, and he condemns such forced conversion.

Congress State President Karan Mahara speaking at the Summit said that some people use religion for politics, and his party is against appeasement. He stated that the development of all has been enshrined in the Constitution. Speaking on the crisis in Joshimath, he said that the government is responsible for the situation. Mahara also mentioned that Congress is not in favour of religious conversions.

The Finance Minister of Uttarakhand, Premchand Aggarwal said that in the past 22 years, Uttarakhand has faced many challenges which are being addressed now. He asserted that they are working vigorously to reform the economy. He also mentioned that over 4 to 5 crore tourists visit Uttarakhand every year and better facilities are being arranged for them.

Uttarakhand’s Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna and Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi also spoke at News18 Uttar Pradesh / Uttarakhand’s ‘Rising Uttarakhand’ summit. In the session ‘Virasat Kitni Zaruri ‘, Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that many development projects are being implemented in the state, and that has helped stop migration. Many schemes are being implemented for cattle breeders, and policies are being formulated for each category. He said that the BJP provides opportunities for the youth and because of this, the youth are joining the party.

Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi shared that earlier he was a soldier, and he did not know politics, but a soldier is also a minister today. This is possible only in the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that there are equal opportunities for everyone in the BJP and the party provides opportunities for everyone to work. He said that even a small worker can take on responsibilities and reach a high position in the party. He also opined that in the near future Congress will be eliminated from Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Sports Minister Rekha Arya also spoke at the ‘Rising Uttarakhand’ summit. The Sports Minister said that currently 5 thousand children receive sports scholarships, and the government is providing them with sports equipment and is also looking after their diet. She added that the government is encouraging children and the young generation to take up sports. The Sports Minister stated that the sports policy was formulated in 2021 and it is being implemented since then. Before 2017, sportspersons did not receive support but now the government is taking good care of sportspersons.

Religious personalities and saints also participated in the Rising Uttarakhand program. They openly shared their opinions on the controversy related to saffron and the boycott of cinema on the platform. The summit saw participation from Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Rupendra Prakash, and Mahamandaleshwar Harichetanand Ji Maharaj. In the ‘Sanatan ka Censor Board’ session of the summit, Mahamandleshwar Acharya Kailashanand Ji Maharaj of Niranjani Akhara said that Sanatan Dharma does not attack other religions; it is, in fact, inherently tolerant. And that there are powerful interests and lobbies that distort and present Sanatan Dharma in films in order to malign Sanatan.

Speaking on the importance of good nutrition and a balanced diet, Acharya Balakrishna of Patanjali Yogpeeth recommended a habit of consuming whole grains. He emphasized on consuming flour made from multi-grains, and said that there is a need to improve our dietary habits. Acharya Balakrishna spoke in the ‘Karobar ka Swadeshi Yoga’ session during the summit. He mentioned that there are many opportunities for herbs in Uttarakhand and if we work on them, we can make Uttarakhand a state known for herbs.

He also addressed the controversy surrounding the Coronil kit in the treatment of the coronavirus and said that people benefited from the Coronil kit. He also expressed concern over the increasing incidents of heart attacks and urged everyone to practice yoga, and said that yoga is the best solution to cure any disease. He added that saving the body from diseases is the most important religion.

Singer BK Samant known for his local campaign to encourage people to not migrate also participated in the summit. Film actresses Shweta Mahara, and Khushbu Atre also attended the Rising Uttarakhand event and shared their journey in the world of entertainment so far.
