Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javadekar said that there is a huge shortage of manpower in the All India Radio and Doordarshan across the country. Both the public broadcasters are facing shortage of staff in News Services Division as well as in Programme Wing.
However, he has not given any time frame to fill the vacant posts in both the media units. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Javadekar said, promotion quota vacancies could not be filled as meetings of the Departmental Promotion Committee were not held consistently after the constitution of the Prasar Bharati in 1997.
He said, although pending setting up of Prasar Bharati recruitment Board, the government has approved recruitment of Group B and C posts through the Staff Selection Commission as one time special dispensation.
